Great purchase!!
This is an amazing starter kit for those looking to get into chainmail work. It teaches multiple weaves not just for armor work, but jewelry work as well. There is plenty of raw material for small projects and beginner ideas, and a good bit of reading material for learning the basics. The illustrations are very well done, though they are a bit hard to follow for the more complicated patterns. All in all this is a wonderful starter kit and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Excellent Quality Product for Chain Mail
I do a lot of chain mail projects, ranging from cosplay to delicate jewelry. These rings were very well made. The intersection fits really well on the first try, and doesn't require a lot of manipulation to close gaps. Most rings had no gap. There were some rings that I had a hard time finding the connection to re-open them after I'd set them. The edges were not so rough as to be problematic, and I am comfortable not soldering the joints. The finish is very shiny and durable. I haven't come across any defective rings. The assortment is excellent for a wide variety of projects, and the instruction book is very well written and explained. The pliers I actually love. I've spent ten times this on other pliers, and these pliers just fit my hand best. The packaging is even commendable. Great product and definitely worth it, especially for someone new to the craft for the best starter kit I've seen.

Beginner
Perfect kit to get you started! I will warn the pliers that come with are on the cheaper side so you might sand the edges with a fine sand paper, I found they left small marks even with a light pressure on practice rings but once sanded had no more issue.Again, perfect for getting start! Book has easy to follow steps and great graphics as shown. Well worth the price.

An okay kit to get you started
Why just an okay kit? The saving grace is the number of rings in various sizes. Very good variety to get you started. The book is just okay... I wanted to be excited about the book and it looks very straight forward to start with but the color change rings are confusing... I like how it breaks things into steps but it uses a color scheme of silver, red, gold. Silver usually something from previous steps. Red being new or last step and gold being current step. But this gets confusing when all the sudden you are on the next step and things that were gold are now red and there is new gold. This was very confusing when I was looking at the Byzantine chain. Lucky me I also picked up "Chain Maille Jewelry Workshop by Karen Karon". It also uses different colored rings but the steps stay consistent throughout. Don't get me wrong... the book is not worthless just difficult to follow.Tools... Glad it came with two pairs of plier but... You would be better off looking for pliers elsewhere. They are not worthless but they are low quality. I looked down at some of my rings and noticed that they were getting scratched up and blemished so I picked them up to inspect and found that the edges were kind of sharp... I will have to take them out to the shop and take the edge off.Would I recommend it? Yes but pick up another book to supplement it or spend time looking online at other tutorials.Included are two things I made in the first week of having the book. It is indeed fun messing with them.

Highly recommend!
This kit has jump started my new favorite hobby, and was a great price for the amount of rings you get! I have since ordered more rings from a different company, and the gauges do not match up. Unfortunately, I do not have precision calipers to be able to discern which company is using non-standard sizing, but I can tell you that what Chainmail Joe calls 18g, Weave Got Maille calls 16g.That being said, within itself, this kit is incredible. The pliers are good and sturdy (I've since upgraded to ones with sharper tips and more comfortable handles, but these are good for beginners), the book is easy to follow and understand, and the rings are bright and shiny with very few flaws (I've found a few where it looked like the saw jumped when cutting the rings off the dowel). I'd definitely recommend this product for beginners who want to try several different weaves and find their own style!
