there's is someone who cut's in on all five movies and talks and cut's the movie talk out. that sucks. why would they do that and mess up all five movies ? not happy at all.do not buy from theses people rip offs.

love Clint Eastwood, and all his movies...especially the 5 Dirty Harry movies. I ordered this set to add to my collection. DVD's always play pefectly...no issues. Very satisfied with price, quality, customer service, and delivery.

I have been collecting everything Clint Eastwood for a while now--primarily because he has done a wide variety of movies, many of which I feel are underrated, but also because it's just fun to watch some of the sillier stuff.I already had all of these movies on DVD before I bought this set, and I was on the fence for a while, but I took the plunge and I am glad I did. This would make a _great_ gift for the hardware fan of either Clint Eastwood or Dirty Harry specifically.The picture quality of _Dirty Harry_ didn't seem noticeably better on my 55" TV than the upconverted DVD, but the later movies seemed to benefit more and looked fantastic. Of course, these don't look as incredible as the modern movies on Blu-Ray, but there's limitations of the original source material.The extra bonus materials come in both the commentaries and video features as well as some "toys" in the box--some copies of letters relating to the creation of these movies, and a booklet about the movies. These extras definitely compensate for any lack of improved picture, whether real or imagined.If you don't have these movies already, you'll have to decide if it's worth the 50% premium for the Blu-Ray copies over DVD. But if you're collecting up Clint Eastwood or have a particular affinity for these movies, definitely get this set.And if you're considering this as a gift for the Clint Eastwood fan in your life, I'd say you can't go wrong.

Despite all the crazy talk about the glorification of violence in this kind of movies, these are the precursors to all modern action flick nowadays.I rate it 4 stars among the five, just because the last two (Sudden Impact & The Dead Pool) where lesser sequels and had weak storylines that tended to repeat themes already elaborated in the first three.Despite all of this, the "Dirty Harry" series are all exceptionally entertaining movies.Chapter 1) - Dirty Harry (The Good)Introduces us to the character and is obviously the best of the bunch especially with a villain such as the one incarnated by the highly talented Andy Robinson (who, by the way, played a more lovable Elim Garak throughout the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series).A vicious psychopath named Scorpio blackmails the City of San Francisco with a note where he threatens to kill at random until he gets what he wants. Inspector Callahan is called in to hunt him down...Chapter 2) - Magnum Force (The Ugly)After having been reprimanded for his violent methods, Harry is put out of the game until a few unexplained murders are uncovered. They all look like executions and a few cops are suspected, among them Harry himself...Chapter 3) - The Enforcer (The Emancipated)This is one of the very first attempts to tell about the presence of terrorism within American society. A group of separatist hoodlums, a few of which are truly psychopaths, take possession of the prison of Alcatraz and hold tourists as hostages in exchange for a ransom.Harry is reactivated and sent off with a female colleague who disavowes his methods until...Chapter 4) - Sudden Impact (The Deja-vu)Harry is sent off to a quiet provincial town where nothing happens to purge his "violent tendencies". Suddenly a mysterious woman appears and at the same time strange murders are being committed. Are they connected to the woman or are they just a coincidence?...Chapter 5) - The Dead Pool (The Bad)Harry goes Hollywood. While a director starts filming a horror flick, strange murders start to happen and exactly as they are described in the script. Is it the director, whose decline is almost certain unless he finds a way to sell the movie? Or is it somebody else who wants to take a revenge?...In other words, Harry is almost always involved with psychopaths.With such individuals on the loose who can really blame him for pulling the trigger of his Magnum 44 at the right time?Even if the view of most of these movies is a bit unilateral, they are meant to be taken with a grain of salt.One has to remember the late sixties and early seventies, where hard drugs were pervading American society and where revolutionary movements (true or invented ones) were rampaging all over with no rules nor pity.Out of this explosive situation came a cinematic response which tried to deal with these problems in its own way.Can it be blamed? Perhaps, but when you are at war, whether on the battlefield or in a moment of social unrest and chaos, you the soldier in this war, have only one choice: kill or be killed.Harry chose his own way, and within the context in which it was dealt, his way seemed the only one possible.Sorry for pacifists, but at times you have to trigger your own self-preservation button to stay alive...All five movies are well-acted and the characterization given by Clint Eastwood is impeccable in all of them. Be warned though, they are not for the faint-hearted.

Dirty Harry is just one of those things that you either love or hate. This is an excellent collection not only because it contains all five movies but also due to the extras that is offered. I wouldn't be surprised if literally everything about Harry is included. Upon rewatching these movies I was surprised at how much I've forgetten and confused details in one movie with another; plus I'm now convinced I've only viewed most of them on syndicated TV because there were many parts I don't recall at all.Having said all that I certainly wouldn't say it's family-friendly entertainment. It may be cheesy/campy 70s & 80s movies but watch at your own risk. Regarding the packaging, I'm curious about the French translation under the English? Is DH big in France or were these disks made there? Not a big deal, and it didn't effect my review, it just seemed strange to me. If you're either a DH or even a Clint Eastwood fan, get this collection! There's only five movies, why not get them all at once?

A find for the Dirty Harry fan, all of the Dirty Harry films plus a collection of associated documentaries, all for a song. First we have Dirty Harry, the gritty film that made "Do you feel lucky, punk?" famous, introducing "Dirty" Harry Callahan tracking a serial killer. Next is Magnum Force, where Harry tangles with vigilante traffic cops and reminded everyone that "A man has to live by his limitations." That is followed by The Enforcer, where Harry has to lay down the law on terrorists who kidnap the mayor. Next is Sudden Impact, which made "Go ahead, make my day!" a household word. Harry is forced to take a vacation when things get to hot in the City, but trouble finds him there too and he must solve a crime while trying to take some time off. Finally, there is The Dead Pool, where Harry discovers a lottery on which celebrity will die next. This film includes a car chase that is both homage and parody of Bullitt, where Harry and partner are chased up and down the hills of San Francisco by a radio-controlled model car loaded with explosives.

This is one of my favorite items of my entire blu-ray catalogue, and I proudly put it on a shelf of its own.The design is impeccable and the finishes are luxurious, the discs's designs are top, and the wallet and badge are SUPERB with real vintage leather.I already owned the Dirty Harry Blu-ray US Import individually, and some feel that the sequels are only commercial reasons to stand an iconic character, however I do feel that it is great to own all the movies and do a monthly marathon with all of them, plus you will have a lot of extras to see, so this is a must-own for lovers of hours and hours of extra material. This will keep you busy.An all time favorite 2008 item, that it is now very expensive because it is out of print.Thanks to Amazon, I could get a copy of this out of print box set for an excellent price.4/4
