C-Line Expanding File with Hang Tabs, Pre-Printed Index-Tab Inserts, 12 Sections, 1" Capacity, Letter Size, 1/6-Cut Tabs, Blue

This C-Line Expandable Hanging File Folder is almost what I needed. But it is slightly too wide to be able to actually hang in any file cabinet, drawer, desktop file holder I have in my office. Which kind of defeats the purpose of having tabs to hang it, and also won't work for my needs. As is it can only serve as an expandable, stand alone file folder. In my photos you can see the size difference betweeen this folder and a Smead brand holder. The diffeence is slight, but enough to make the other brand actually usable. The C-Line product seems of good quality and I would have been pretty happy with the tiem but for the width.

I first purchase the green one and it seems that it is two wide for standard drawer. Well, it is my fault that I didn't check its size before purchasing. In its title, it said 1/2" x 12 4/5" x 9 3/5" (58203). So I purchased the blue one, which seems to standard size as mentioned in its listing title: 8-1/2" x 11" (58215). I am completely wrong again this time. In effect, the width and height of the blue and green pockets are exactly the same (12" x 9 1/2"). The only difference is their thickness. The blue one is thicker.

Make sure you measure your width where you want to hang these folders. They are just a bit too wide to fit to hang in my file drawer (all my other hanging folders fit fine). Too bad they weren't just an 8th of an inch narrower.

The tabs holding up the sliding hook were broken off on one side when I opened the package. Rather than return the item, I used it this way and plan to use plastic tape if necessary to reinforce the broken side.This hanging folder is also a bit too wide, although I was able to fit it in at an angle and then use it.

The product is pretty decent EXCEPT it is too wide. I have hanging folder file cabinets and it won't fit properly. I have to place it in sideways and keep it canted at an angle which limits how much you can put into it. In trying to get it placed into the cabinet initially, part of the plastic covering the sliding tabs cracked because, again, it was too wide. Very disappointed in this product. Would work great if used as a standalone product, i.e., not needing to hang it.

Check your filing cabinet width against the size of folder. This may have hooks for hanging but it was to wide to work in my standard cabinet.
