Fun way to spend thirty minutes
I love all things Japanese and food-related, so when I heard about these Popin Cookin kits, I knew I had to try one. It's like Easy Bake oven for kids, except you don't need a lightbulb powered contraption. For this kit, you need a real microwave . . . and water. That's it!I chose this kit as it was unusual and let me make a candified version of Japanese foods - daifuku, dango, and taiyaki, with a little ramune to wash it down. The package took about a month to arrive via Japan Post, but it was in pretty good shape for all that. (The box was slightly crumpled on the side, but it did not affect the contents). Inside the box is a foil bag containing all of the dry ingredients, utensils, and molds you will need to make the food. The top of the bag can be used as your serving tray, too!All of the instructions are in Japanese, but there are English instructions on their site (just search for the kit) or, if you're more visual, YouTube has videos that show you step by step directions. All of the bags of powders are color coded, so it is pretty easy to assemble. The jelly for the daifuku needs ten minutes to set in the mold, and the only microwave item are the fish-shaped cakes that make up the taiyaki. Remember that US microwaves are much higher wattage than Japanese versions, so use the 50% power setting on yours if you have one! Mine came our fine this way. Getting them out of the plastic mold, however, proved a bit challenging. It took me about thirty minutes to put everything together. For what's essentially a candy playset, I thought the flavors were pretty good! This would be a fun activity to do with your kids, but if you don't have any, order it anyway. I'm in my mid-thirties and it certainly made ME smile.

Fun to assemble, didnt taste great.
This kit was pretty fun to make and easy to follow but the taste was a bit odd to me. If you’re looking for a fun kit to assemble I would reccomend trying this out but if you plan on eating the finished product you may not like the taste of this kit.

I need more
Seriously I love these things. I can’t wait to try them all. So far I’ve done the donuts, the hamburger and this one. If you’ve got time to wait cause it does take a few weeks to get to you. Or you like surprises this is one. There are no English directions but there are plenty of picture directions. You’ll enjoy this product for sure. Also if you do use this one and your making the cookie fish if they’re still wet after the first microwave just place them back in for the same time and watch carefully.

Adorable, tasty, and fun to make!
This was just adorable when I made it. The pictures are easy to follow, so I didn't need to look for English instructions. This particular kit requires 15 seconds in a microwave. The flavors were really nice; I particularly liked the strawberry mochi. The expiration date was good. Overall, a cute buy and fun to make! Very happy with this purchase.

Adorable, fun and so delicious!
I had so much fun putting this together and it did take some time to get here from Japan, but all in all this candy was absolutely delicious it was like eating dessert not a candy. Even though the directions are in Japanese it is still incredibly easy to follow the directions if you look at the pictures. It was so much fun!

Fun and Tasty
This kit was one of the better tasting. The chocolate filling was nice. And the little soda drink tasted like Ramune. It took 15 seconds in my microwave to cook the taiyaki cookie. The candy mochi was a little sticky, but keeping my fingers wet allowed me to mold it into the necessary shapes.

Fun and Tasty!
Yummo! I need those fish cakes in my life. I read other reviews that stated all they tasted was the chocolate filling but I loved the taste and texture of the cake. The bun candy was super sweet and had an unpleasant texture to me. I really enjoyed the sauce on the third bit. Overall, great kit and look forward to receiving and trying more of these!

Don't get your money's worth
This candy kit is supposedly tasty which is true for the fish cookie and strawberry roll but not for the soda which taste like pure acid and the dango on a stick with nice tasting rice but very off tasting sauce.dont really recommend as you don't get you money's worth
