Fotasy 50mm Arca Swiss Plate, 50 mm QR Plate, Quick Release Plate, Small Arca Plate, Tripod Quick Release Plate fits Arca-Swiss Universal Standard Clamp for DSLR Camera Lens Tripod Ballhead

Arca-Swiss style mount plates for tripod heads have been on the market since sometime in the 1990s, when the company that bears the same name developed it for their own ball heads. It's a good standard, if your tripod's ball head or panhead lists it, yet even with such standardization, there are some which may or may not work well.Bought this  EzFoto Arca-Swiss Type Quick Release Plate  with a slight degree of skepticism, wondering if and how it would work. It's fine that they list it as being for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Olympus,Panasonic and Fuji cameras, but my doubts were lessened somewhat when I noticed that the description claimed compatibility with "Arca-Swiss" type quick release plates from Arca-Swiss, Foba, Graff, Wimberley, etc. My subjective needs were specific: I wanted a back-up plate for my  Vanguard BBH-200 Tripod Head , a ball head that comes with its own Quick Shoe, so I had a standard with which to compare it.◆ In Use:This Arca-Swiss Type Quick Release Plate comes in a plain white generic box. The first thing noticed was the precision-machined aluminum with its satin black anodized finish. It has four rubberized grip pads on the top of the plate, and a standard ¼"-20 camera mounting screw. It's easily mounted to the camera with a small coin.This mounting plate seems to follow the Arca-Swiss standard quite well, with a 38mm x 38mm mount base, and it's complete with 45° dovetail, which is held into place on the ball head receiver with its screw clamp. Have used it with the Vanguard BBH-200 ball head, and since that has its own Arca-Swiss standard mount plates, it would fit the Vanguard BBH-100 and BBH-300 as well, along with most other tripod heads that follows that Arca-Swiss standard geometry.Some tripod heads such as the Vanguard BBH-series and many others incorporate a small fail-safe device to keep the plates from sliding out accidentally. If the plate receiver isn't fully clamped, it's possible that the plate with the attached camera could slide out of the receiver completely, resulting in costly damage to your gear. This EzFoto Quick Release Plate follows the Arca-Swiss standard by providing the necessary machining on the underside to help prevent such accidents.This plate has enough of a platform base that it would be good with just about any DSLR or compact camera that has a standard ¼"-20 tripod mount. Users with long telephoto lenses that have collar mounts may want to consider a heftier mount plate, but for general use, this one has proven to be excellent.◆ Summary:The  EzFoto Arca-Swiss Type Quick Release Plate  has proven to be a good one for DSLRs, providing a secure and convenient base. It's also proven quite useful for quick mounting advanced compacts such as the  Nikon P7700  when trying to create panoramic photos without a lot of fiddling around. It's a well crafted quick release plate for many true Arca-Swiss type mounts, and the price is right.8/20/2012

I have two tripods and therefore two arca plate holders, this Fotasy plate works quite well with one but not at all with the other. The reason is my other plates were double cut at a 90 degree angle and this plate was single cut at 45 degree. So some of the holders cannot clam down tidely on this plate. It will not work with the holder that came with my ball head, Induro BHD1. In the pix, the one on the left is Fotasy.

I ordered this along with the Dolica TX570 Ultra Compact Tripod because I didn't see any Dolica branded release plates and I wanted to have a second one on hand for quick swaps. I thought the TX570 had an arca-swiss compatible quick-release so that this would work. I was almost right. This plate popped into the ball-head on the TX570 without a hitch. However, it wouldn't come off. There is a spring-loaded safety release pin in the Dolica head that keeps the plate from sliding out accidentally to the side - but with this EzPhoto plate, it also kept it from coming out upwards. Examining the underside, I saw that the Dolica plate had a sloped shoulder underneath that would slide over the spring-loaded safety release pin. The EzPhoto had a square shoulder that kept it from doing so. I really liked the nice construction of the EzPhoto plate, so I used a small grinding tool with a coarse grit sanding drum to bevel down that square shoulder so the EzPhoto would fit my Dolica. Now all is happy in photo-land.

The plate is manufactured well and seems to be of quality materials and finish. The attachment screw worked smoothly with my camera. After removing the two screws at the bottom of the plate it was compatible with the Sirui G-20X ball head. That would make it icompatible with the K-X series as well which uses the same plate. The plate is smaller than the Sirui Arca Swiss plate but should be fine with a mirror less camera or a small DSLR. Good value if it fits your Arca Swiss type ball head.

All Quick Release plates aren't made the same. Especially when the exact dimensions,(or Not exact) can cost you a 3-4' fall,,for your $1000's of Camera Equip. FOTASY DELIVERS THE ACCURATE SIZE, AND FIT TO FEEL CONFIDENT you equip will be safe. **Note- Read dimensions on any item like this when you order, ie this particular QR plate is solid, and is made for a lens Tripod foot of @ 100mm or a small M4/3rds camera. It also has expansion screws built into the design! FOTASY very dependable.

The plate I received did not fit my AS clamps, too narrow. Returned to Amazon, no problem. Ordered a different brand, fit fine, no problem.Probably a 'quality control' issue at the manufacturer.

I bought these for one of my mounts which is Arca-Swiss compatible and has held several Arca-Swiss type quick release plates. These are very close but miss the mark and will not mount on my holder nor a friend's Arca-Swiss mount tripod. They may be close enough to the Arca-Swiss standard to fit something that claims to be Arca-Swiss type, but not on the two units I was able to test.On the plus side, they're inexpensive and seem to be well built.Sadly, I've been busy and missed the return window by a week and would only get a partial refund plus pay the return shipping. I.E. I might break even on the deal. At this price it may be worth the gamble for you.
