Q: does it have a gasket?

I can't remember exactly how it seals as I mounted it through a bucket lid about 9 months ago. I have photos showing how I spread clear silicone around it to make sure it sealed. I then tested it under running water and had no leaks. If I were you, I'd just add the silicone too.
