Why did it have to be snakes?
As any serious film critic will tell you, the Killer Tomato series ranks as one of the high water marks of American film making. Well, they'll tell you it ranks, anyway. Personally, I love the movies and the man eating veggies they star. This toy isn't based on the movie tomatoes exactly, in fact the tomatoes themselves didn't even have faces until the third movie. No, this comes from the little known TV show from the 90's. Haven't seen the show? No big surprise, as it hasn't been on for a while. But one neat thing about this particular pack of petrifying produce is that both characters represented herein have made live action appearances, Fangmato in the now classic Killer Tomatoes Eat France and Igor in all three tomato sequels.Igor, like all humans from this toyline, is kinda' dorky, with no moving parts and limited paint, and can only stand around looking scared. And that's ok, as the main draw here is Fangmato, who can open his mouth with a squeeze of his sides and munch away on Igor, or anything else you deem edible. I have a few tomatoes from this line, and they have held up remarkably well, with no fading or cracking. The sculpting on this one is very nice, the snake scales look awesome and the toothy mouth would terrify me if I were only two inches tall. And like the other Killer Tomato toys, he's real tomato sized, a fun little detail. For a fan of the franchise, any of the Killer Tomato figure packs will be treasured, but I especially recommend either this or the Ketchuck/Gangreen set as they both feature characters seen in the Eats France movie.
