Cooled in about 10 minutes
This arrived yesterday and I did a "dry run" with it. First off, I had no clue, for some odd reason, that it was also a heated device. So, imagine my surprise during the first test when the inside was getting hot, lol. I then read further and found that if one flips it to the blue side, it cools, the red side is for heat. I got an adapter since I will not be using it in a vehicle. At any rate, we did as instructed and gave it a test empty. It was cold within about ten to fifteen minutes. There are plenty of pockets and I was afraid they wouldn't get cold but they did. For the price and with Amazon Prime, I just couldn't pass this one up. It has much more room than the hard sided one that I also looked at. Now, I'm going to really use this soon when I camp and I might do an additional review at that time. As far as I can tell, I think this was an excellent purchase and would recommend it highly.OK, I've now officially tested this product during an exceptionally hot and humid weekend of camping and it worked great. What I did, since I knew that it was going to be super hot with very high humidity, was follow the instructions, or recommendation, of another reviewer. I put a hard ice pack in the bottom and also, a Gator Ade bottle, with frozen water, in the unit. I just used this for Gator Ade as it is just too hot to eat, lol, and it worked fine. I made sure to keep it in the shade at all times. When I got home, the bottle filled with ice, still was pretty frozen. It wasn't totally frozen, of course, but, it did still have a huge chunk of ice within. I think this is going to work just fine. Plus, it wasn't loud at all. I literally had to put my hand by the fan to make sure it was running. I give this a huge thumbs up and would recommend to others. Come fall, I probably won't do the ice pack method but, with the humidity we have been having, it would have been silly not to use the ice too. My Gator Ade was actually too cold. I also left said drink out and it got warm, of course. I then put it back in the cooler and it was super cold within about an hour or a bit more. I hope this helps others. Oh, I almost forgot to mention something. Since my van is a 1997 and the cig lighter hasn't worked in years, I bought that adapter deal that turns it into an electric device. That worked fine. Just be careful as the power pack deal gets pretty hot. I literally hung mine over a box fan that I took along and, obviously, it kept it cool.

It won't cool, only keep from getting hot.
I would not recommend this product. I doesn't keep things cold enough. I put glass bottled soda and plastic bottled water directly from the refrigerator into the cooler and left on a road trip. The soda did not stay cold enough for me--so after my first bottle, I didn't drink it any more. The water stayed cool, but not cold. I also traveled with lunchmeat and boiled eggs. The best I can say is the food did not spoil, but I wouldn't travel more than a day with food in this cooler.

Perfect for vacation
I bought this unit after reading reviews on all of the different products of this type. I settled on this one because of the price and the fact that it was a small soft-sided bag. We have taken it on several trips now and it works great! On the advice of another reviewer, I bought the accessory to plug it into a wall outlet, and I generally put a blue ice pack in it and plug it in to "jump-start"the cooling process before we leave. Other reviewers commented that it doesn't cool a beverage like a refrigerator, so I anticipated this by putting in already cooled beverages. We almost always bring along a couple of sandwiches, and it keeps them cool for long road trips. I love the fact that we don't have to keep replacing ice daily. We just cool of the bag, put our already cooled beverages in, and we are ready to go!I haven't used it for heating as I had already purchased a different product for my husband to use, as he works out in the field, and we bring it along too if we want to heat something up.Overall, great product. While it was cheaper than some of it's competitors, it was a little pricey, but I would definitely don't regret it after seeing how well it performs.UPDATE 3/14 - we take this with us on every car trip we take, just to keep water cold and sandwiches if it's a long day trip. Some reviewers commented that it ran the battery down when the car was turned off. However, when we turn off the engine, the unit shuts down. We have not experienced that problem. I highly recommend this for anyone who travels and generally takes along an ice chest. It's great to not have to worry with the mess of melting ice.

Summer Temps? No problem!
This was purchased as a gift because we love the one we bought and continue to use 7 years later. If you want your beverages nice and cold, put an ice pack and already-cold beverages in the cooler. Once the cooler gets going, it not only keeps your drinks so refreshingly cold, but they are usually colder than what's in your frig. Some reviewers complain that the cooler doesn't work. I'm sure that a few of those customers may have received a damaged or faulty item, but I would bet that they did not read the operating instructions which recommends that already cold items should be placed in the cooler. The only thing that I'm disappointed with is that this cooler (vs our older one) doesn't come with or perhaps doesn't have the capability to warm items. On our older cooler, we just reverse (flip) the power cord that fits into the dual pin inlet to enable the warm function. If the newer cooler does have a Koolatron power cord that can do this, all the Amazon and Koolatron website information should be updated to reflect this. Because why not use your "cooler" as a warmer in the Fall and Winter months? What's better than a warm meal, a warm cookie in the Winter? Maybe some nice warm and toasty gloves to put on before getting out of the car in the freezing weather?!Decent value for the money, lightweight, good capacity, stores easily (folds relatively flat), and makes travel comfort a lot better.

Great size cooler
I really love this cooler however do not use the splitter in your car to run your dash camera and the cooler in same outlet. I blew the splitter and had to request another charger. so plug it directly in to the cigarette lighter and it is fantastic keeps it nice and cool! I am not thrilled that the plug plugs from underneath which is a little bit of a headache I have to prop it up a little bit on a pillow but it seems all of them are made that way overall it keeps it cool and I like the size and the value compared to other coolers is Good!

My wife and I love it
Brilliant for the car, plugs right into the boot. We also took it on holiday and bought a plug adapter so we could have it in out room.

Quiet and cool
Love this cooler. Great for car trips, camping etc. it’s not huge which I like but definitely has room for the important stuff. just came back from a road trip with the longest day being 9 hour drive in one day. Cooler fan is so quiet I had to check to make sure it was on. Cools everything very quickly from warm to cold. Folds up so can pack in suitcase if needed. Would totally recommend
