Two week wait for bad installation media
Took two weeks and a refund/reorder to actually get the item in the first place due to Amazon's in-house courier being absolutely awful (not Serif's fault on that, though). Finally got it just two days before the project it was needed for was due, only to find that the installation DVD was no good and completely unreadable. Sometimes with software like this the developer will offer a downloadable installer as well that can work with the key you get with the product, but unfortunately Serif offers no such thing. Can't blame the developer for the shipping issues since that was entirely on Amazon's end, but getting a disc that doesn't even work with no alternate means of install definitely doesn't help things. Guess I'm going to have to waste another $60 to get the downloadable version in order to actually get this project done on time. Thanks for that, Amazon and Serif!

Decent web design software. Registering my softwware was a gateway to some great future discounts as well.
I was looking for an HTML editor for my own website creation. We used this program for our intra-net site at work for years, so I was a bit familiar with it and how it worked.Found this somewhat older version (X6) here on Amazon for cheap, so I decided to give it a try. With Web Plus X8 being the currently available version, version X6 was now priced under $15.I was able to create a decent website without too much time invested.Side note:A big surprise with Serif was the great deals that you get when you register your Serif software and get on their email list to receive sale offers.Serif offers deals on not only their own products, but they appear to have teamed up with other software vendors to offer some further great deals.(Joint Ventures is the correct sales term for it, I believe)Example: I had been wanting all of 2015 to update my Abbyy Finereader OCR software from V10 to V12 for months.. Cheapest price I found was about a 40% discount, sometime around Christmas time, late 2015.But then I received an email from Serif. I could get both Abbyy Finereader V12 and Serif's own scanning program called Scan, Stitch & Share for just $39.99. Saved at least $100. The offer was "Limit 1 to a customer" and the offer within that email promotion was "limited to the receiptient.of that emailed offer"I also received an email offer for 50% off additional HTML web templates for use with the Web Plus X6.Then a different serif email offer contained a coupon for $30 off, toward the purchase of any extra web templates purchase.Overall I've been pretty happy with Serif products and especially happy that I signed up to receive their "customers only" email sale offers. That is just my 2 cents on Serif.

Powerful, But Takes Time to Learn More Than the Basics
This product, while easy to learn in general, can be complex. The update in January improved its capabilities.PROS1. Can build large, fully-featured websites.2. The user forum members are very helpful.CONS1. It insists on sending email forms through its own server. You must sign up for this, although it is free. WebPlus is used to promote the Serif website hosting business in the UK, although you do not need to use them except for email forms.2. Its power requires a lot of knowledge once you get past the basics. Subtle things, like forcing a line break without doing a return to keep one hyperlink on two lines, are possible but not in the manual. It follows PagePlus rules of formatting rather than those of Microsoft Word, leading to possible errors of font size variations when you modify a word ending.3. It does a poor job of importing and translating html from an existing website. The import translation from hand-coded html and css is so bad, you have to recreate the website manually using WebPlus as if the website did not exist.

Very Strange Story to Tell You
Today I called Serif wanting customer support for WebPlus X4, which, unfortunately, they do not support any more. The reason I was calling for support was to get a few small code changes I had made to a website (Hosted by Hostmonster) imported into my WebPlus software on my local machine. Since I didn't have the X6 version I was not able to get through to an acutal support tech, but instead was patched through to a salesperson. The salesperson assured me that if I upgraded to X6 there would be no problem recieving technical support to get help for this issue. I was skeptical. I asked if there was a way that he could make sure this was something that I could be helped with. The salesperson said, "OK, let me put you on hold and speak to our lead technical person." I said great. When the salesperson came back on the phone he said that the lead tech (Martin Sporrs) had just told him that this was a very easy task and there would be no problem importing from a webpage to the program. So, I bought the new version - WebPlus X6.About an hour later I was ready to call back and ask, "OK, how do I do this?" Now just to be perfectly clear about the situation:This was a website that I had previously created with WebPlus X4I was the owner of the websiteI wanted to copy two webpages that I made changes to from the webserver downloaded to the WebPlus program on my local machineBack to the story, So the tech tells me, "Unfortunately, that's just not possible to do." I was like, "What? How can that be? I see import existing websites advertised all over the place for the new version." Not to mention I was apparently just lied to by the salesperson. The guy tells me, "You can import webpages from a published site but you won't see it in the program. It just doesn't work like that. You can't download a page and then view or make changes to it within WebPlus." So of course I was like, "What? What kind of import is that? How does that work? How can you import something and never be able to see or work with it?" Needless to say it was the most bizzare conversation I've ever had with Serif.I then asked for a refund. And they are now reviewing the conversation with the salesperson to see if I'm eligible for one. Now this part is really strange too. Why would they need to listen to the conversation when the product has a 30 day money back garuntee? Either way, they will unquestionably find the salesperson in the wrong when they review the conversation. I think I'm ready to try something a little more functional. However, as many websites reviews say all over the internet, Serif WebPlus X products are very good for simple websites and simple functions - regardless of what they advertise.

Excellent web design
This is probably the easiest to use web design program which doesn't compromise on results. I bought this as an upgrade from Webplus X4 so it was fairly easy for me to just learn the additions and small changes. If you came to this as your first package it would be a steep learning curve. Having said that I am not criticizing the program in any way. I don't think Serif could make it much easier to use given the huge amount of features in the program. If you are familiar with desktop publishing, particularly Serif's products, then that will stand you in good stead. There is plenty of help in the program and online too. If this is your first time with Web publishing I think it would be a good idea to start by customizing one of the many supplied templates. Even if eventually you design your site from scratch, it will get you going and give you an insight into the huge capabilities of Serif Webplus X6.Some people have said it's a bit expensive. I don't agree. In fact I think it's quite good value for such a capable and professional product. I don't know any other program that is as good for the money.Recommended if you want to design a professional looking website with the minimum amount of work and hassle, if you are a beginner, be prepared to put some work into it though.

good value
I have been designing web sites for 13 years and needed to move on from FrontPage. I tried Expressionweb hated it. I have several customers who update their own sites so I needed to find something which is reasonably priced and easy to learn. It is certainly reasonably priced and is easyish to learn. There are several things which I find irritating, you can't open the web plus folder to look at the files which it contains and it seems to rename the picture files which makes them difficult to find. I have yet to work out how to add pdf files or include a contact form both of which have been quite simple previously. Loading site to the net is also tricky - the information provided by webplus didn't fit with the information from my ISP. One enormous benefit is that there is telephone help, something which larger companies can't provide. I haven't had my phone bill yet but sometimes its very difficult to explain things accurately in an email.

Quite easy to use but you'll pay extra for the manual!
Bought this recently and have started using this. My web skills are decidedly rusty; it's been about six years since I last created fairly basic websites (in Dreamweaver), so I was looking for a programme that would enable me both to design a website intuitively, e.g. drop and drag, but also to view and modify the HTML code. This programme seems to do that fine and comes with various options I haven't yet explored, such as including social networking links or making your website suitable for e-shopping.The reason it's only getting three stars is that there are no proper manuals included - the disk contains a pdf, which has so far served me well, but I imagine you'll find it harder if you're a complete beginner. When you register your copy of the programme - the only way to do this is to call a (freephone) number and giving various details about yourself - they then inform you that two manuals are available at a total cost of £45 (= nearly as much as the programme itself cost) or, as a "special deal" during registration, for about £20. It's a sneaky, backhanded way of making more money out of what is already quite an expensive product.

Good product shame about it crashing
I've been using WebPlus X6 for a couple of months on Windows 7 and it's a simple to use, wysiwyg format that makes for quick website building, especially using the templates provided. It's mainly drag and drop boxes and then pull the handles into the text or photo shape you want, togesther with cut and paste it's all good easy stuff. There's a great online forum and loads of training videos to help you build your site. The really bad news is the software continually crashes and unless you constantly 'save' after every single action you make, you are very likely to lose all your recent work. This gets very tiring and distracting and makes it impossible to progress with any confidence. There seems to be no sign of Serif fixing this bug and until they do, I would suggest you look elsewhere.

The best software for web design
This program makes Dreamweaver "old hat" . It is about as user friendly as could be considering its power. Its so simple you just use it almost like a page publishing program. In fact its simpler than many of those programs. What it lacks is fine tuning so what I do is to do as much as I can and export the site as a finished site, after using the excellent "site checker". I then fine tune it in dreamweaver which can be tricky. It save hours of time and frustration. I cant wait for the next version to come out as HTML 5 uses alot of Java and Java should make this program better than ever due to its automation facilities. I strongly recommend this program to anyone starting out and the extra facilities it provides is awesome. The only thing which could be improved is it should copy all the fies used into its own folder because if you are not careful it leaves behind some of the image files under the linking system.
