Functional, sturdy, and good value
I think this end table delivers value for the money, looks good, and is very useful in today's lifestyle. I looked at several end tables with charging/cord management capability and this one seemed best designed as a "Smartcenter." I like the fact there's some amount of hidden interior space along with the power strip. Cords and devices can be kept inside to charge, or devices can sit outside on the table top, with the cords running inside to the power strip. At first, I was a bit put off by the fact that the two parts of the table top have small bumper pieces that don't allow them to close fully. But then, I realized that this arrangement prevents the cords from being squeezed when the two sides are pushed together. While I'd recommend this table to anyone looking for furniture with a hidden charging center, they should be aware that this is sturdy, heavy pressboard construction. Assembly will take patience, time, and a good battery-powered drill as well as screwdrivers. Fortunately, the instructions are pretty good.

Terrific table!
We absolutely LOVE this table. My son assembled it for us and had no problems, though it took him a little bit longer than he expected. He said all the parts were well constructed and fit together well. It is very solid and looks quite nice. We loved the idea that it comes with its own power strip inside, so there is only that one cord to plug into the wall. We use it to charge our phones, chi chargers, flashlights, etc. It is very roomy inside, and holds much more than we expected it would, leaving us with a nice clear, uncluttered surface. The top slides open very easily. We use it in between our recliners, and love that we can slide the top forward when sitting in our chairs, making the surface more easily accessible to us. This is a brilliant design for sure. One month later....appreciating this table more every day!

a little awkward but a great table
I was specifically looking for an end table with power outlets included, and this has that. But where others have the back flip up to access the power, this has the front 3/4 of the top slide forward. So while it has internal storage, it doesn't have a regular drawer. It's just a little awkward to me in its usability, but it's a good, sturdy table anyway. And it looks great.

Good product, clever ideas for the money!
I love the hidden compartment that slides open to reveal an electrical power strip. So convenient to use with your laptop! I'm a 65 yr old female and I didn't have any trouble putting this together alone. It probably took me a little longer than someone who can move around on the floor more easily--but I still did it! I have purchased this end table, another smaller end table and the lift-top coffee table. I love the set! It is just the right blend of casual and sophisticated. I am so impressed with the little "extras" that Sauder has built into this line. I was concerned that the quality might be questionable. But Sauder has come along way since the days of the old bookcases that I put together probably 25 years (or more) ago. You would never know that this furniture was from the same company from those days. More furniture companies need to take some tips from Sauder. Good product, great ideas for the money!

Falls apart!
Terrible product. i’ve had this for a few months and the two front legs fell off and it completely toppled forward almost falling on my feet! It’s not lightweight either as it would’ve broken my foot. I’m glad it didn’t do that to my 10-year-old child because it was in his room as a nightstand. Also it looks good however, the way the drawer opens and closes you can pinch your fingers easily, you can’t really set anything on top like a big lamp or picture frames because when you open the drawer make it moves around. Worst table ever.

Great value, great utility. Perfect for my needs.
I've been searching for this product for some time and this fits the bill for me.I have many devices to charge and my wife has taken issue with the mass of wires exposed aroundmy recliner which I have accumulated for the various devices I need to charge. The Sauder Carson Forge Smartcenter Side Table has a fairly large interior space which is exposed bysliding the top surface forward to expose the interior space. A power strip is included which attachesinside the interior space. The power strip cable is shorter than I would prefer, but it is likely perfectfor many people. The overall design is exactly what I needed to "hide" the bulk of the wiring mess. The table top surface is fairly large at 22" x 25.6", which is great for me. If you prefer a smaller surface,Sauder does make different versions that are smaller. I don't know which ones Amazon carries. One thing I did not consider when I ordered the table is that it is HEAVY (61 pounds). The constructionis extremely robust. The weight is manageable for me, but it might be an issue for some people. The assembly is lengthy, and a little tedious, but the instructions are very good. If you are good atfollowing instructions, assembly should be no problem. It took me 2-3 hours (although I did take afew short breaks during the assembly process). One possible issue during assembly is that the weight ofthe various components as they are assembled can make them a little unwieldy, so it might be goodto have someone available to help when fitting things together.I saw some reviews mentioning missing or mislocated holes which caused issues. I did not find that to betrue for me. Everything fit together perfectly.I saw another review with a complaint that it does not contain a real drawer. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINTof this design!! The customer should know what he or she is buying!Another positive note is that the slides that permit the opening of the interior space are EXCELLENT!They are very smooth and sturdy and allow the top to slide forward even with considerable weight on the top.I was also very pleased that I appear to have gotten an outstanding price when I ordered. The price I paid wassubstantially less than the $159 price I see at this moment when I decided to write this review. The $159 issomewhat lower than buying the side table directly from Sauder, though. Not sure if the price changes often(I ordered less than a month ago). You might watch the price to see if it improves if you don't need it right away.
