Yes, you can use this to record videos longer than 29:59!!
Canon, Nikon, and Sony DSLRs and mirrorless cameras can record videos no longer than 29:59. Although you can immediately restart the recording, it can be inconvenient to do this manually if, for example, the camera is located on the other side of a church to record a wedding. The Shutterboss is your answer! For my Canon R5, I set the Shutterboss exposure length to 30 minutes and 0 seconds with a 1 second interval. This resulted in a loss of about 48 frames (29.997 frames/sec)--about 1.5 seconds every 30 minutes. This can continue repeatedly until the camera battery dies. With two cameras started at slightly different times, you can have uninterrupted recordings for hours at a time! The Vello Shutterboss is easy to configure and is very reliable. If you might ever have a need to record videos longer than 29 minutes and 59 seconds, you should definitely have a Vello Shutterboss for you camera in your toolbag!

Half the price of Canon's, but just as good (if not better).
Nice little device. You can set it up to take the photos for you, or you can use it as a timer for when you take the shots. I do suggest going onto youtube and checking out the videos that show you how to use it; it helped me.It seems well made. I normally prefer to use Canon brand products, but when I decide to look for 3rd party items, I usually look for Vello first. I have several Vello products and have not been disappointed yet by them. Sure, the Canon products do feel a bit nicer and are usually a little better, but quite often the Vello is just as useful (if not more so sometimes). Unfortunately, Canon is very proud of their accessories and make you pay a lot more for that pride. This is less than half the price of the Canon version with a better design (my personal opinion), you'll probably be just as happy with this.

Almost perfect.
Works great. I like the new feature of being able to turn it off when not in use to save your battery. It does have a button to turn on the screen light but only stays on a few seconds which is annoying. I have to turn it on a couple of times to finish my settings. If the light stayed on until turned off or if there was an option to hold the button down to activate it to stay on vs auto shut off after a few seconds I would have given it a 5 star. The operation of it is super easy and intuitive. I've used other remotes and this one is far better in its ease of use.

Great shutter boss for my R5
I wanted a shutter boss for long exposure and Astro photography. This Shutterboss remote shutter just about eliminates camera vibration and shake. It's fits directly into a port on the front of the camera. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Did not fit my camera
I purchased this for my canon 1DX II camara and it is so tight to plug in that I don't want to chance damaging my camera. I gave it a three star rating becuase I can still use it on other camera that I plan on getting but I can't use it on the camera that I originally purchased it for. I do have other Vello products and I am very happy with them but this one came up short on my list.

Promises a lot and does it all -- quickly and simply. Nothing not to love.
This is an excellent addition to a DSLR system. It performs everything advertised, and it is intuitive and simple to program and implement. I bought it to assemble an interval image capture system to document a construction project, but I can already see all sorts of creative applications beyond simple intervalometry. Additionally, it seems very well made and robust, and is large enough to handle and program easily, but quite compact easy to carry and/or emplace in a setup. A reasonably priced, excellent investment. I will be looking at the rest of the Vello suite of products.

Completely non functional in less than 2 years and around 2000 shots. Not worth the price!
This product worked for the first few months. Then, it started acting weird, triggering occasionally. Then again it worked for some timelapses. I noticed I lost a few sequences in the shot. Then on testing it again, I found that the intervalometer triggers only intermittently and cannot be relied upon. I lost a few sequences on my trip to Canada and one fine day it just stopped working on me. The manual release, the intervalometer - both just stopped working. The device failed within 2 years of purchase. I never dropped it or exposed it to heat or moisture or any shocks. For almost $60, I expected a better product. This one is simply not worth it. Better stick to either original canon ones or really cheap Neewer ones. At least the cheap ones don't cost $60 and then fail on you. In that price, I could get almost 4 generic ones and even if each one lasted only a year I will still get more shots from it than this Vello piece of junk.

Works great on my Canon EOS 10D
Very easy to use. You have to be sure to order the one with the cord that fits your camera. Working great on my Canon EOS 10D as I use it for time lapse photos. The device uses 2 AAA batteries, but the manual claims they would last "approximately two months of continuous shots with a delay of 5 minutes between exposures..." The backlight is nice to see it in the dark. And when the timer is going, you see the countdown to how many seconds before the next shot. Highly recommend.
