Great little electronic chess computer
Great little electronic chess computer. It's a little small for my fingers (but I purchased it for my nephew who is ten years old.) It has a lot of different levels starting at the lowest level of "Fun 1". I am not sure of the rating of Fun 1, but I'd guess about 800-1000 USCF would be pretty close to accurate. I was able to defeat this level and I'm about a 1200-1400 player. I am trying to find out the exact ELO of this machine, but I cannot find that information anywhere though the description mentions the word "master" which is at least 2200 USCF, and I don't think it's that strong, but I wouldn't know for sure since I'm no where near that level, and I have no way of testing it out. The machine has a no limit option which (my guess) is the strongest option to play against. Another cool aspect of the machine is that you can change the style of the computer to normal, passive, very passive, and aggressive which gives it a more realistic functionality. It has different exercise you can play against including mate in 2 or 3. You can also set up a position on the LED screen. All-in-all, for $40, I don't think you can beat the deal.

Electronic Chess Set Works Well!!
My son loves learning and plays a computer chess game. This is a game of good chess set for him. Electronic Chess is an excellent way to teach him how to play as well as improve his game skills. The display is rather small for me to see, but my son has no problem. He says it's fine. its response to the small LED screen in normal chess notation (e.g., G8F6). You then manually move the computer's piece. The board is touch-sensitive, so when you want to move your piece you press down on the square the piece on both the starting and the stopping square so that the computer knows what you want to move. You then manually move the computer's piece. The teaching mode basically just issues a "Are you sure you want to do that???" when you do a questionable move. It will also tell you if a move is illegal according to the rules of chess. Pretty happy with this purchase.

Its a good game but to small
I like the game except the size because is difficult to move the pieces I think that it will be difficult for kids too therefor it be more difficult for an adult since we got bigger hands now saying that in my opinion the pieces and board need to be bigger then I would give 5 stars

Makes the game more real versus on screen games
I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas and we're both having fun playing with it. There's multiple levels and other game to pay besides chess. The only annoyance is the voice to "be careful" and "are you sure" :) but since it's training your kids to think about what they're doing, I guess it's not too bad. Besides I believe the voice can be shut off so it's not a big deal. I found it's easier to press the board with my fingers instead of the pieces. Not all squares are as sensitive to the touch. When deciding this I read someone's comment that it's a waste of money and that this belongs in the past because you can now use an app. I disagree wholeheartedly because with this, it feels more real because you're touching actual chess pieces. You can't replicate that with a computer monitor. Anyways, this is a fun toy and I think it's money well spent.

Plays very good game - Easy to get started, likely to improve your chess game.
Plays a very good game at the Normal (default) Level, at least for me who plays casually but played more competitively at school. Easy to set up and start playing. I have won 2 out of 2 at the Normal level but this included a few take-backs which were easy to execute. I can see how this would improve one's chess game. Also tried Fox and Geese and Northside which worked well but I won fairly easily at the default level. I like the visual indication of where all the pieces are at any time, the flashing LCD of the piece on the square when the piece has to be moved - wish the LCD could be larger however and with the display of each piece a little more easy to distinguish from each other. I also tried a "play from position" (chess) and this worked well.

After comparison, I chose this
Yes, it is small. You will see that if you read the description before purchase. Its size, however, is only an issue when reading the screen with aging eyes.Yes, there are more capable tutors among choices for computer chess sets. Make your purchasing decision based upon your needs rather than low price. For my purposes, this unit is sufficient. I live alone and only need a virtual opponent in order to remain fluent in the game. The seller performed efficiently. I am pleased with my choice, the service, and the unit itself. Then again, I took the time to read and compare various choices, and price was not a factor one way or the other.
