Generic form of the med givens by vets for both kinds of tapeworms
For those that don't know, this is the generic version of droncit, which is what vets prescribe for tapeworms. It seems many people aren't aware of that. Now available OTC. Kills BOTH forms of tapeworms, and works fast, within 24 hours. A huge savings over going to the vet and paying an exam fee, fecal test, and their marked up price for this med. Also, a savings to your time, and having to take kitty to the vets. You will save quite a bit by purchasing the generic form. They shipped same day too! : ) My cat had no side effects at all, and was worm free in one day. After 24 hours, it's a good idea to toss out all litter in litter boxes, clean boxes, and refill with new litter. Also treat your cat/cats, and home for fleas to prevent tapeworms from recurring. My cat already seems in better spirits, and is more playful.

Worked Great For Me
Perfect! I have 3 cats, and every summer here in Texas they all get fleas no matter what, but recently along with fleas they also have been getting tape worms. Last summer I had to take all 3 of them at once to the vet and It cost about $30 buck to de-worm all 3 of them. This year when they got the fleas it happened again and they got the worms as well, so after de-fleeing the house I bought this stuff instead this year because it was about $10 cheaper than going to my vet and I didn't have to load them all up and drive them some where. The bottle is just 3 pills, I personal couldn't cram the pill down the cats throat very well but my boyfriend did it in a simple second and 2 of our 3 cats took it down in pure pill form just fine. The 3rd cat is a small, finicky little boy cat, he had to have the pill crushed up in covered in wet cat food, he also had a little bit of foam at his mouth and tryed to spit it up but his annoyance only lasted a few minutes and he dose this with many other products as well so I wasent shocked. Over all though the pill has worked perfectly, we gave one pill to each cat and it has now been over a week and we still have NO more worms, which I love! my kitties little butts didn't have anymore worms on them by around day 2 or 3 so it worked fast and has solved our problem totally. But as may people say in theses reviews, get rid of the fleas before you use this product! other wise you may get the worms again, The product dose its job, but its up to the owner to make sure the cat gets the correct dosage and dosent get the fleas again which causes the worms.

Holy Crap
Holy crap. I ran into an issue with worms again and my last purchase was 3/22/15 for $14.25 for a 3pill bottle. This seemed to help so came back to purchase again and it is $76.99???!!! Going to Drontal, this is beyond shock and ridiculous pricing. Taking away my starts for the insane pricing they now have on it.

Insane pricing
Product is great and effective, however the PRICE is offensive. I bought these for $12 a couple years ago and now the price is almost $80?!?! Not worth that, if I need to deworm a cat again I'd buy another brand.

Effective and worked quickly!
As a consumer, please read the description for this product carefully. You will receive 3 tablets, 23 mg each. This is enough for 2-3 cats depending on the dosage used. The instructions say 1/2 tablet for up to 4 lbs, one tablet for 5-11 lbs, and a tablet and a half for 11 lbs and up.After reading the instructions, I administered a tablet and a half to my cat and overnight the medicine worked. The next day I did not see any 'tag-a-longs' (things that resembled bits of rice/sesame seeds) on my cat's backside or surfaces in question. I checked on her backside later that evening and it was still free of tapeworm related items. It's been several days as of this writing and she is still free and clear. If you have single or multiple cats you will want to clean the litter box 2-3x a day while waiting for this product to arrive, then completely change out the litter and clean the box itself once the infected cat is cured. You want to minimize any chance of your other cats getting worms or the one you just cured re-infected.My household had a flea infestation not too long ago. Not only did my vet tell me he'd been inundated with calls from desperate pet owners, but I had even heard on the news that this was a bad year for fleas. We treated the carpet with food grade diatomaceous earth and vacuumed often, we dusted the cats with the food grade diatomaceous earth, put garlic in their wet food, and brewer's yeast in their dry food. We started putting Frontline on them every 3-4 weeks.--A word on garlic--"...All members of the onion family (shallots, onions, garlic, scallions, etc.) contain compounds that can damage cats’ red blood cells if eaten in sufficient quantities...." from: [aspca]ALLOW ME TO CLARIFY--I called my veterinarian to ask if it'd be okay to put a small amount of garlic into my cats' wet food and ONLY DID SO FOR THE DURATION OF THE FLEA INFESTATION. I also asked about the Prolabs tabs and read off the ingredients, which he verified were effective against fleas. He did not in any way endorse or advertise this product. He only verified the compounds used in the tablets.Despite these efforts another cat that had also gotten worms a month previous. I used a topical medication given to me by my veterinarian that costed $25. While it was easy to apply much like you would Advantage/Frontline flea control, it was expensive and took two full days before I saw results. With multiple cats in the household and yet another cat getting the same symptoms, I thought I would try this after reading other reviews here on Amazon. This medication is much more cost effective and made quick work of the infection. I would buy this product again for sure.From:[...] Tapeworms are the most common internal parasite in adult cats. They live in the small intestines, and vary in length from less than 1 inch (25 mm) to several feet (1 foot is .3 meters). The scolex (head) of the parasite fastens itself to the wall of the gut using hooks and suckers. The body is composed of segments that contain egg packets. To eliminate tapeworm infection, the head must be destroyed. Otherwise, the worm will regenerate. The body segments containing the eggs are passed in the feces. These are called proglottids. Fresh moist segments are capable of moving. They are about .25 inches (6.3 mm) long. Occasionally, you might see them in the fur about your cat's anus or in her stool. When dry, they resemble grains of rice. There are two common tapeworm species found in cats; both are transmitted by an intermediate host. Dipylidium caninum is acquired from fleas or lice that harbor immature tapeworms in their intestines. These insects acquire the parasite by eating tapeworm eggs. The cat must bite or swallow the insect to become infested. The tapeworm Taenia taeniaformis is acquired by eating rodents, uncooked meat, raw freshwater fish, or discarded animal parts.Dibothriocephalus latus and Spirometra mansonoides are two uncommon tapeworms cats might acquire from eating uncooked freshwater fish or a water snake. Spirometra mansonoides is seen primarily in outdoor cats along the Gulf Coast region. Dibothriocephalus latus might be seen in the Gulf Coast region or around the Great Lakes. Echinococcus tapeworms are rarely found in cats.Treatment: Praziquantal is one of the most effective medications for both common species of cat tapeworm. Other suitable treatments are fenbendazole and espiprantal. Use under veterinary guidance. Deworming must be combined with control of fleas and lice, in the case of Dipylidium caninum, and by preventing roaming and hunting in the case of other tapeworms.Public health considerations: A child could acquire a tapeworm if they accidentally swallowed an infected flea. Except for this unusual circumstance, cat tapeworms do not present a hazard to human health. From PetEducation:[...]Fleas play a necessary role in the life cycle and reproduction of a certain type of tapeworm. Here is how:The adult form of the tapeworm Dipylidium caninum lives in the small intestines of dogs and cats. The worm is made up of multiple segments. One at a time, the segments, full of eggs, are passed in the feces. While warm, the segments are active, but as they dry, they break open and liberate the eggs inside. A flea larva ingests the eggs. The egg develops into an immature form in the flea. When a dog or cat eats the flea (usually while the animal is grooming), the immature form of the tapeworm is released from the flea. This immature tapeworm then develops into an adult in the dog's or cat's intestine and the life cycle is completed. The tapeworm D. caninum can not be passed directly from cat to cat or dog to dog. It must live part of its life in the flea. We need to treat an animal with tapeworms with a medication that will kill the tapeworms. But if we do not also control the flea problem, your animal has a good chance of becoming reinfected with tapeworms.Pets may be infected with other types of tapeworms in which the larval form of the parasite can be found in rodents, pigs, or fish, instead of fleas.********Here is some information about Diatomaceous Earth for use in pest control:Wikipedia:Diatomaceous earth /'da'.'t''me'''s ''r'/ also known as D.E., diatomite, or kieselgur/kieselguhr, is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. It has a particle size ranging from less than 3 micrometres to more than 1 millimeter, but typically 10 to 200 micrometres. Depending on the granularity, this powder can have an abrasive feel, similar to pumice powder, and is very light as a result of its high porosity. The typical chemical composition of oven-dried diatomaceous earth is 80 to 90% silica, with 2 to 4% alumina (attributed mostly to clay minerals) and 0.5 to 2% iron oxide.[1]Diatomaceous earth consists of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae. It is used as a filtration aid, mild abrasive in products including toothpaste, mechanical insecticide, absorbent for liquids, matting agent for coatings, reinforcing filler in plastics and rubber, anti-block in plastic films, porous support for chemical catalysts, cat litter, activator in blood clotting studies, a stabilizing component of dynamite, and a thermal insulator...Pest control Diatomite is used as an insecticide, due to its abrasive and physico-sorptive properties. The fine powder absorbs lipids from the waxy outer layer of insects' exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate. Arthropods die as a result of the water pressure deficiency, based on Fick's law of diffusion. This also works against gastropods and is commonly employed in gardening to defeat slugs. However, since slugs inhabit humid environments, efficacy is very low. It is sometimes mixed with an attractant or other additives to increase its effectiveness. Medical-grade diatomite is sometimes used to de-worm both animals and humans, with questionable efficacy. It is commonly used in lieu of boric acid, and can be used to help control and possibly eliminate bed bug, house dust mite, cockroach, ant and flea infestations. This material has wide application for insect control in grain storage. In order to be effective as an insecticide, diatomaceous earth must be uncalcinated (i.e., it must not be heat-treated prior to application)and have a mean particle size below about 12 µm (i.e., food-grade).Although considered to be relatively low-risk, pesticides containing diatomaceous earth are not exempt from regulation in the United States under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act and must be registered with the Environmental Protection Agency....Other sites to consider for information regarding DE: [...]I bought food grade DE here on Amazon and had good results.

Never saw the tapeworms again.
I crushed the proper dosage into a wet cat food treat cup and covered it up with a thin layer of the gravy at the surface. She ate the whole bowl and never saw the tapeworms again.
