Works great
This worked for my older mpk49, as I wanted to use the midi out port to control a synth without using usb or connecting it to my DAW at all. And no, it won’t fry your controller. Would buy again.

Works for Akai MPD32
If you want to use your MPD without plugging it into a computer (for use with a DAW), then you'll need a power supply. This one works great with the MPD32. This will allow you to use the MPD as a controller with other MIDI devices (samplers, etc)Don't worry that it can supply 2A vs the 1A specified by Akai for the MPD32. This won't damage the MPD in any way. What's important is that it supplies the required 6V.

Reasonably priced
Just what I needed to power my Akai MPK49 with my outboard sound modules. I just unplug the adapter whenever I’m using bus power via usb In my DAW’s.

2amp output, not 1amp. DON'T BLOW UP YOUR KEYBOARD.
Adapter was described and sold as compatible with the Akai MPK249. Tge MPK249 requires 1amp power supply. This power supply overpowers the unit at 2amps, which is clearly marked on the power supply. Amazon again has messed up the description of the item.
