aFe Power Magnum FORCE 51-10462 BMW M3 (E46) Performance Intake System (Dry, 3-Layer Filter)

Great air intake. Packaging was superb, came with alot of extra goodies (license plate frame, stickers, etc). The installation was relatively smooth. One issue I had with mine, which wasn't a big deal, was that the air filter rubbing grommet housing was coated in a very light oil/grease film that left it rather slippery - the securing bracket kept slipping when tightening it down. I had to use rubbing alcohol and wipe it down good to remove the oil/grease film.It was also a relative PITA getting the rubber grommet boot around the intake manifold oval hole opening whilst having the intake plastic pipe connected to it simultaneously. This may have gone smoother if I had installed the boot to the intake manifold first, then the intake piping.Don't freak out if your intake pipe doesn't perfectly align and close the encircling hole to the heat shield. Mine had a gap once fitted, other pictures of others' setups show the same thing.Engine sound is much more noticeable when flooring, especially from ~4k RPM to redline. Some folks complain of loss of low end torque. I think if you reset your ECU by disconnect/reconnect battery method after installing this, you'll get much better results than if you were to leave your battery connected through the setup. Power gains will be even more noticeable after the Conforti Shark injector chip gets installed.. combined with this aFe intake kit + DNA motoring catback exhaust with the chip should really bring out the S54's raw engine power curve!Do I think it's worth ~$400? Considering I purchased Takeda-style replica intakes for my 370Z for $86 free shipping, it's rather expensive. But the result is well worth the cost, wouldn't go back to the stock airbox ever again for any reason! If you don't plan on supercharging or turbocharging your S54, this is the next best mod on the intake side!

Overall I'm very impressed: from packing to install to performance: item is packed to perfection, easy to understand instructions: I'm far from a mechanic and with simple tools and being able to read- had it installed correctly in under an hour. The intake looks amazing in the engine bay. Sounds great. It's tough to say if I got any HP or torque gains because the car already pushes 400 HP. In depth articles that have the dyno results before/after show circa 12HP/10 torque: this is very believable because the intake allows for more air. more air is more power. Frankly, it doesn't matter if my HP gain was 0 because it just looks way cool in the engine bay; and the improved sound is worth $325 anyway to me. Note: the MAF screws are a little tough to screw back in. for a second you'll wonder if they are the wrong size. but just apply pressure!

Well made intake, and sounds superb at high rpm! Downside is I don't think it's quite as isolated from the hot parts of the engine compartment as the stock box. I also think a small amount of low-end power was lost.

The media could not be loaded.  Looks great, sounds great (especially at high rpm), small but noticeable power gains, a must have for any m3 owner looking for a cai upgrade.

Although the product was delivered about 3 days later than expected, my son was thoroughly pleased with this intake. He said it fit perfectly into his car.
