Decent Ribbon Mic for the Price
(Edited after more use)For the price, this is about what you'd expect. Even at a lower price it holds up to the old saying that ribbons "sound like real life." Nothing I've recorded sounds "good" or "bad" through this mic – just a fairly flat and organic representation of the real sound. Nothing like my dynamics or condensers which all significantly color the sound. I've found it very useful for recording acoustic guitar, classical guitar, bowed strings (violin, viola, cello, etc,) vocals, AND electric guitar cabinets – so basically anything. It definitely needs a high output mic pre or an inline phantom booster like the Cloudlifter (but not actually the cloudlifter: klark teknik's offerings are better, which I opted for in this case.) The build seems solid so I bought another one for blumlein arrangements and other multi-mic setups.
