Discovery World Furniture Bookcase Captains Bed with 6 Drawer Storage on ONE Side - Opposite Side is Open, Twin, Merlot

Let me start off by saying that these beds are just amazing and I am so happy with my purchase. I purchased 2 , 6-drawer captains beds in a twin size, one in Honey and one in Merlot for my 13 and 15-year-old sons. my 13-year-old is 5 ft, 110 lbs and my 15-year-old 5 ft 6 and 130 lbs. These beds are perfect for them.These did require a signature upon delivery, so I had to make sure I was home when they arrived. Which is why they have you pick a day and schedule a delivery when ordering these beds. Mine ended up coming a week early, they delivery place called us and said they had the beds sooner than they expected and set up a new delivery date with me. I received 6 boxes in total, 3 boxes per bed. The driver left the pallet on the sidewalk in front of the house, he did not help us bring the product inside. That was not an issue for us, I just want others to know what to expect. This is a curbside delivery. Since these beds were for my kids, they got to carry the boxes in. 2 of the boxes were rather light, and one seemed a bit heavy as they struggled with it a little. I would suggest having an extra person to help you carry them in the house if nothing else, because they are big boxes.Putting these beds together was so easy I almost couldn't believe it. My hubby and I put the beds together in about 25 minutes each. So it took less than 1 hour to assemble 2 beds! That's crazy. Sometimes we bicker when we put furniture together, but not this time. That alone give's it 5 stars for me lol.These beds are VERY sturdy, solid wood. I did use wood glue even though the directions don't call for it. Mostly on the headboards and in the dowels. Once I started to put the rest of the bed together, I realised how sturdy it actually was and that I didn't need the wood glue after all. Oh well, no harm done.The shelves in the headboard are removable and you can adjust them to different heights. This means they can be knocked out of place. I don't like that, so we are going to buy some wood dowels and glue them in place. Easy fix. I saw other reviews that said there were holes in the headboard so cords could fit through, neither of mine had holes. Making them wouldn't be an issue.The drawers come pre-assembled so there isn't anything to do there. As for the slats, I bought extra screws and put them on every board. My experience with slats on beds is that if you don't screw them all down, the loose ones will move around and eventually break. Not taking any chances.With this type of bed, no box spring is needed. We have regular twin, memory foam mattresses that work perfectly on these beds. Now, one bed set did not come with any assembly instructions, which wasn't an issue as we had instructions in the first box so it worked out. But that would be an issue if we had only purchased the one with no instructions. EEK.In conclusion, I give this bed and company 5 stars! I am so unbelievably happy with this purchase. My kids are happy. Their rooms look great and now they have extra storage. These are worth every penny.

The only reason I gave it four stars and not five is because there was damage to the bed when it arrived. I blame that on the delivery company as it seemed like they tried to hide it when they left the boxes. I called and explained the problem amazon immediately offered to replace it or take a discount off of the bed and as we opened the bed we saw that it was an easy fix so we decided to take the discount. We were happy with the solution that they came up with as I said I think it probably happened in delivery which is no fault of their’s But they were still willing to right a wrong. I bought two of these beds and they are beautiful. They are prettier than the picture. They are decent quality they are wood but not heavy duty but still good. My children love it with the bookcase they can decorate and make their own and store all their goodies. The drawers are nice size not really sturdy but still very nice. I am very happy with our purchase and very happy with this solution that they came up with when there was damage to the bed. The customer service was exceptional.

We were very happy with this purchase. It arrived in great condition. It was easy to assemble, is solid wood, and seems very sturdy. The company called us to schedule a delivery time that was convenient for us, and the delivery driver gave us an hour notice that he was on his way. My son loves his new bed, and it was a practical solution for his small bedroom, giving him extra floor space because we no longer need a dresser.

Disliked that the shipping was subcontracted out. For an additional $60 they would use the lift ramp on a 48' trailer (Semi truck trailer). The lady driver was unpleasant and called 5 minutes out leaving me little time to leave where I was at to get there to off load. She also wouldn't touch it beyond holding it steady for me to pick it up. I am fit but had I been petite, there's no way I could have done this by myself. Also, once put together, it rocks a bit. I screwed in the slat platform because like another review, I laid on it, didn't jump or any big motion, and the slats shifted and fell through. If you want to change sides of the door and drawers, you'll have screw marks on the out side of the foot board. I am going to have to puddy them and stain the holes as we changed our mind to the layout of the room once it was built. I still love the headboard and the storage but do not like how wobbly it seems, no super bad but for the price and the obvious age that will use it, needs to be way sturdier.
