NEDIS TV Simulator Home Security Light with Flashing LED - Deter Intruders - Timer & Dusk Sensor - Low Energy USB Powered

This little gadget works really well when placed in the right position. It comes with built in timers and will come on at dusk. Personally I have found using it in connection with a smart plug to be able to adjust the timing from anywhere in the world works really well.

On testing the unit it works well but once the sensor is triggered that its night time, it has to run its course, either 4 hours or 7 hours. This could be problematic if you leave it in your home, pop out for 2 hours and then on return have to sit there with this still flickering at you. The sensor does not react to the change back from night to day light so only useful if you actually go out for the full 4 hours. I thought it would simply switch back off once all the lights were back on, but appears its not designed like that and has to run the 4 or 7 hours from there on. You also need to get a 5 volt wall charge for this, it does not state what wattage it should be but I would err on the side of caution and not use your high wattage power mobile phone charges incase its too much for its circuitry and risk it catching fire - I used a very old low wattage SAMSUNG USB charger. Also triple check the voltage rate of your chosen charger as they vary widely and the writing on them is tiny. The unit itself is robust, appears well made and of good quality plastics and metals. When in "standby" mode waiting to go dark, for some reason some of the LED lights are alit - I can only assume because the power draw required for LED's is so low, even in standby mode they get enough power to them that some just light up a bit.

Why did you choose this product over others?:This tv simulator came with the cable to fit into normal iPhone style charger plug so can use straight away. Have not tried timing system on unit itself as wanted to use with timer switch I can set via phone app. So far all working well and have checked simulator from outside house and definitely gives appearance of a tv light flicker through window.

It really does look like your tv is on and someone is at home. Brilliant little gadget, and hardly uses any electricity . I added a timer switch so comes on at dusk and stays on till early hours of the morning which means I can use it over a period of days. Its better than a light timer switch, which just shows a light on, whereas this gadget shows movement so you really do think there is someone home.

Went on holiday for 2 weeks and left this by a window. So as soon as it goes dark this will switch on and star flashing. If you go outside you can open your blinds or curtains just a bit so this is visible from the outside and looks like someone is watching tv inside the house. Great deterrent.

We had read some previous reviews on this item saying that the timer doesn't work correctly, but we thought we would give it ago.THE REVIEWS ARE CORRECT!The dusk +4hours and +7 hours didn't work. We tested this item in a dark cupboard expecting it to switch itself off after 4 hours or so. It was still going 8 hours later.We thought about using it with a plug timer, but it clearly says, in the booklet that comes with it, that plug sockets should NEVER be used.Sent it back for a FULL refund!!!

The light is a great unit. Lights the whole room. So looks like the actual tv is on. At night. Unfortunately when you set the timer to 4hrs or 7hrs the light does not switch off. So it is recommended to use a plug in time with a usb plug. Then it works perfectly.
