great docking station
this works very well. i have my case on my surface so a traditional dock wont work as well. this is super easy to connect with the magnetic plug and disconnection is just as easy. you get your usb ports, network, power, and display with one plug.i bought one for home and one for work.

Working product
Was a bit worried when I saw the shape of the dock-cable, it was a bit pinched in some places. But the dock works and at half the retail price I'd say it was a good buy.Time will tell if the dock lasts as long as a brand new one.

Better than expected -- more than satisfied with this purchase
After reading the other reviews here, I was expecting this "Renew" to be of questionable quality at best. I would consider the item I received to be in "very good" condition. No noticeable scuffs or damage. I tested all USB ports and mini Display Ports -- as well, of course, as the power adapter and the Surface connector cable, and they all immediately worked as you would expect them to. One of my back USB ports is powering my portable display, while one on front is charging my wireless keyboard (its dongle plugged into my second back USB port) and the other front USB port is charging my phone. I did not test the RJ45 jack as my Surface is on WiFi where the dock is placed.I like that it is "heavy", as it doesn't slide around when cables are connected. I like that the surface data/power cable is "soft" as I can place it closer to the side wall of the shelf without the cable pushing it too far out from the side.As for the product itself, I find it annoying that it had to come with mini display ports, as I am currently plugging it into a portable monitor that only has either a mini hdmi input wherein you also have to plug in a USB cable to supply power, or an additional USB-C port which will input both power and video with a single cable.I have found that there is no such thing as a mini displayport to mini HDMI cable, so I also had to purchase a mini displayport to HDMI adapter to go with my HDMI to mini HDMI cable. And, whereas you can buy a uni-directional from-USB-C-to-mini-displayport cable, you cannot purchase a cable that can go from the mini displayport output to USB-C input. The conervsion is only possible in one direction -- the wrong direction.I might be able to use a USB 3.1 10Gbps C to A cable, but I still need to test that. Even then, I will be using up one of my USB port for video while the 2 mini displayports remain unused. Of course, once I purchase an actual monitor (or TV) to connect, mini displayport to displayPort or to HDMI cables are easy to find, and then I'll be golden.All-in-all, $60 for a dock that is $199 new from Microsoft, is a deal. I feel I've definitely gotten what I paid for. The only uncertainty is its lifespan. But for $60, I find it doubtful I won't get my money's worth. If something happens to change that opinion, I'll update.

Excellent price for a basic charging station.
I basically bought this to serve as a charging station for my various gadgets. I couldn't pass up the $37 price. Fantastic!

Also worked great the first couple of weeks but appears to have ...
BOTH DisplayPorts stopped working followed by 3 of the UBS this morning (2 weeks after the 30 day return). Product came promptly and appeared to be undamaged. Also worked great the first couple of weeks but appears to have slowly "shorted" itself out over the last 3 days. I've had great luck with refurbished items but my luck ran out with this one. BUY WITH CAUTION!

Surprising product
Was a little puzzled when I opened the package. Turns out this is truly a docking station for my Surface Pro and my Surface Go 2 laptops. Charges the laptops, provides USB, HDMI, and network outputs. This is just the product I needed for my lab/workshop!

This has such good potential, but has issues
This has such good potential, but has issues.Pros:1. FINALLY 2 external video ports, so in theory, I can run 3 monitors including the Surface.2. USB works great with an external hubCons:1. Have had trouble with the Surface and Power Insomnia since using this2. Had to adjust monitors a few times when unlocking the system.3. System since plugging this in doesn't always cleanly restart. I have to unplug the dock for it to boot. Otherwise, it just sits at the Surface screen.
