Q: Device works well with no buzz noise, but it completely killed the bass. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Perhaps. One common reason for the "pop" noise is that the speakers are on the same power circuit as the receiver/head unit. If this is your configuration, this device may work to eliminate the pop, but it's hard to say for sure. I purchased this unit to remove the static from the sound I was getting in my car stereo speakers, and it worked great for that. Good luck.

Q: can I use this to isolate my guitar pedals from ground loop noise?

I don't know, but it works really well to get rid of the static when I plug my iPod into the charger and the aux at the same time.
