Yes! Assuming the engine cover is plastic, there are some extra steps that will need to be taken to prepare the surface. You will first want to apply an adhesion promoter, then a primer, and then you can apply our engine paint on top. HI Belle, In general there is no need to apply a primer prior to applying our 2K engine paint. Our paint is specifically designed to adhere without the use of primer. However if a Primer is used, our engine paint covers so well that the color of the primer will not effect the final color.
