Fabula de Petro Cuniculo: The Tale of Peter Rabbit in Latin (Latin Edition)

Just plain fun. Nicely printed.

As at least one of the other reviewers noticed, this translation is very amateurish. I am a Latin teacher and speaker and bought this intending to add it to my reading shelf. I had to return it. I notice that some other reviews have been positive, but I can only suggest that they are by people whose grasp of Latin is somewhat shaky. A good translation of this was done by E. Perotus Walker in the early 1960 and published by F. Warne & Co. and beautifully reprinted in 1987 and thereafter: ISBN 0 7232 0648 1  Fabula de Petro Cuniculo (Latin Edition) by Potter, Beatrix (1962) Hardcover . Now the English original is from 1902 which puts it in the public domain, and hence this new translation is perfectly legal, but not worthy of your purchase. Should the author want details of the problems with the Latin, I would happily help out.

Bought for my young grandchildren (and myself as well to refresh my Latin).

Excellent book. Translated nicely.

Hanes refers to himself as an amatuer Latinist and I concur: The Latin is horrible. I suspect Google translator had a part in this. I'm surprised no effort was made by the publisher to seek out a serious Classisist to serve as editor. I was hoping to be able to use this in class, but it may have to serve as an exercise in correcting the errors. Very frustrating.

My daughter's Latin instructor says this is terrible.

Very disappointed in this book. It is cheaply made, illustrations not clear and nothing that I would give as a gift, which is what I intended. I'd like to return it. Thanks, Katherine Ashenburg

really well produced large paperback version of Peter rabbit. Lovely illustrations. For some reason it was held up at customs so took a while to arrive but no worries.

the book was good but I expected it to be smaller in size. and also found it expensive

A fun present for my son who is the only one in the family who can read Latin!
