So far so good.
I love the look and handling of this coffee pot. I LOVE my new coffee pot and have had it now for about four months.I LOVE this perk coffee. Four-to-Five Standard scoops makes a RICH cup of coffee. The other reviewers were right. It keeps it hot, but doesn't burn the coffee. The coffee even tastes good hours later. I've left it on by accident overnight, and the coffee still tastes good in the morning! I also have unplugged the coffee when I don't want anymore. When I plug it in in the morning, it tastes just fine.I love expedience and as few steps as possible. I add grounds on top of the previous grounds, so empty the basket every other time. I also only wash the coffee pot every two weeks. It's just fine. I see no reason to wash it more often. My coffee lasts a LOT longer making richer and better tasting coffee. This pot was a great value, stylish, and works perfectly. I LOVE this coffee pot. I'll never go back to other kinds, except maybe getting a percolator that is nonelectric to have as part of my "survival" and camping gear.I've had expresso, Krupps, regular, and other types of coffee makers. This is my favorite of all. My coffee every morning and through the day is now a treat. Best tasting coffee ever. I'm frugal but love good coffee. I buy Kirkland, which is Cosco's brand, found here on Amazon. In my view it is the best value for quality coffee that is rich flavored but not harsh - close to 4x more expensive coffee. I NEVER buy Maxwell, etc.Do yourself a favor and try Kirkland Coffee. I think Kirkland is also better than Amazon. It tastes like gourmet at a fraction of the cost. Because it is richer, you will also save a lot of money compared to the other store brands, like Maxwell House, etc.

BEST IN CLASS!
When it comes to coffee I'm a bit of a snob. No, I don't buy fancy, chic, or expensive coffees, I've tried most of them but found they're not worth the price. I use good old Yuban(Traditional) as I find it to be far and away superior in taste to any of the other major brands. When it comes to percolators I have owned several, including, Farberware, Presto and Hamilton Beach. Farberware is very good. Perhaps a little too good as it cooks the coffee at such a high temperature that it tasted just a wee bit scorched. I bought Presto due to the many exceptional reviews but was disappointed to discover that, mine anyway, left a acrid metallic aftertaste. The electronics in my last Hamilton Beach percolator wasn't up to par. However, this particular Hamilton Beach not only looks very cool, like something from the 1950's atomic age design, it also makes the best cup of coffee I've ever tasted! It's easy to clean and compared to drip coffee makers.....well, there really is no comparison. Once you taste your first cup from this, or most any percolator, you will find it near impossible to enjoy coffee from drip coffee maker again. The disadvantages of drip coffee makers are many. First you're boiling water with a metal coil that is surrounded by plastic which not only gives bad flavor, but can't be very healthy. Second, the coffee is never hot enough to be thoroughly and properly cooked. Third, the coil becomes corroded over time and cleaning it with vinegar or solvents will only add more bad taste. and lastly, no matter how many times you try, you will never actually get that corroded coil 'clean'. So, don't just sit there, buy this percolator! I personally guaranty you will love the coffee or you can send it to me and I will!! :)

Happy with our new coffee maker, but not all SS
We are very happy with our new coffee maker. I love the sound of this percolator - it brings back memories of my grandma's kitchen. It's more modern & stylish than hers was, but this newer model still makes great coffee in a short period of time. We've been using it for a couple of months (about once a week), & are happy with it's performance. We grind our own beans & don't use a filter, because we don't mind some granules in the bottoms of our cups. I would recommend purchasing filters if you don't like a few grounds :-)I was looking for something that was entirely stainless steel as far as the parts that the food touches, so I contacted the company by e-mail...1st e-mail" Are any of your percolating coffee makers designed in such a fashion that the coffee grounds, water, & finished coffee only touch stainless steel and/or glass? We don't use aluminum, plastics, etc. in our food prep. If any of your coffee makers meet this criteria, could you please let me know which one/ones, so that I can purchase it? Thank you."HB responseThank you for contacting us. We will be happy to assist you.All of our percolators are made of the same materials. We have provided a list as follows:Container: stainless steelHeating element: aluminum and plasticLid: stainless steelKnob on lid: plasticHandle: plasticFilter basket: stainless steelStem: stainless steelThank you for contacting Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc.Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.Laura> Consumer AffairsBecause they'd mentioned plastic on the lid, when the description I'd read said glass, I thought I should e-mail again...2nd e-mailThank you for your response. I do have a follow-up question, though. Does any part of the heating element that is plastic or aluminum come in contact with the water/coffee?Is there any material other than stainless steel that comes into contact with the water, grounds, or coffee? Thanks!I got impatient waiting for a response, so I called HB, & was told by a gentleman that all parts that the 'food' came in contact with were SS. When I then specifically asked about the well, he wasn't sure, so,he put a lady on the phone that verified yes to each specific part I asked about, so I purchased it. We received it We used it We liked it.Then, I received this very late response to my 2nd e-mail.Thank you for your email. The aluminum heating well does come into contact with the water.Thank you for contacting Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc.JessicaConsumer AffairsWe're keeping the HB percolator, because (according to the research I did & reading the reviews of other Amazon customers), we haven't been able to find anything else that meets our criteria. This is a great percolator. I didn't knock it one star because of the aluminum. I knocked it one star, because I was given incorrect information by HB. I was diligent in seeking out the answers to my questions, but because I made a purchase based on inaccurate answers. That's not fair & I don't appreciate it.Sorry My review is so long, but I noticed that others were wondering about the aluminum as well, so I hope this is helpful to you.
