West Bend 33600 100-Cup Commercial Coffee Urn - AND MORE
I bought this coffee urn several weeks ago and have used it every week since...for TEA! I drink a lot of tea, all kinds of tea really, but mostly black, and it has to be FRESH brewed. I used to make tea every 1-2 days using one of those lightweight plastic brewers, which works fine too, it just couldn't keep up with my demand & I was getting really sick & tired of making it so often. Now I make it just once a week on weekends, 2.5 gallons at a time. I had researched a bunch of different kinds of commercial type tea brewers, but for some reason they seem to run in the $200-600 range. I've made a lot of tea in my regular coffee pot too, so I started looking at these large coffee brewers as a possible alternative. I figured for the price, it would be worth a try. So far, I absolutely love this thing! So easy to use, so easy to clean! If tea would stay fresh for 2 weeks at a time, I'd make 5 gallons instead. I bought a 2.5 gallon plastic water jug (rectangle gas can shape) with a spigot from Walmart for a few bucks, fill it up once the fresh brewed tea cools down, and store it in on the top shelf of my fridge. It's a miracle. So the point of this long review is really to brag about this thing as a cost-effective tea maker, as it's already proven to be an incredible coffee maker. I've also got a half-dozen other uses in mind for it! Zero complaints.SPECIAL NOTE: If you plan on using this machine to make tea (or coffee for that matter), you MUST keep in mind that the "cup" marks on the side of the urn indicate the philosophical international "standard" (it's complicated) fluid ounces for a cup of coffee (roughly 5.5oz), NOT the U.S. standard of 8 fluid oz. in a cup. So that's roughly 100 5.5oz cups of coffee. When you brew tea with tea bags, their measurements are 8oz. per cup as a serving. 320oz in 2.5 gallons is 40 servings at 8oz./cup. The family size tea bags I use brew 4 8oz. cups per bag, so I need 10 bags for 320oz. Just saving you the trouble...

Very Good for large Groups
I bought this to handle up to 60 folks for breakfast and it is better quality than expected. It made excellent tasting coffee. 50 cups made in 20 mins. Easy to clean. (I used coffee filter Bags to insure no grounds in coffee…. don’t know if the basket alone would result in grounds or not.)We also bought the smaller, simpler WestBend percolator to use for De-cafe coffee….and it was VERY FAST and made excellent coffee…. Don’t know why this review-process won’t allow me to offer individual reviews of the products.

Great for large events
We got this to use at a wedding reception for over 300 people. It worked perfect. We made 2 pots with no problem. I have used smaller versions before that did not have the view window tube. Having it really helps in knowing when to make a new pot without having to lift the lid all the time. Clean up was easy. It has instructions on how much coffee to use for fewer cups than the full 100 cups it is made for. That is nice. We used the recommended amount for the full 100 cups and it was a little strong for my taste. I am sure many people like stronger coffee so I cant call that a negative. I would just suggest making a pot to test the taste before using it for a large gathering. I hope this review helped. If so, please hit the helpful link. Thank you. P.S. I paid full price for this item.

Almost Better Than The Rest
We literally went through 5 or 6 coffee urns before settling on this one. It's almost impossible to find reviews anywhere specifically for noise levels on these machines...so you're forced to just order the and give them a try. Most of what you'll find will be identical models all made in China just with different names and maybe a different aesthetic to the item. Again, they're all the same and many are junk. We'll see how this lasts but here's what we really like -1) Totally different and modern design...no other urn available looks like this.2) It's dead quiet - yeah it makes some low level noise when heating up like they all do, but once it turns over to keep-warm, this blows every other urn away at how quiet it is. No "tickety-tik" noises like all the others.3) More than enough capacity4) Safe to touch - you can touch any part of the urn other than the metal on top, without burning your hand.5) Price - all of these urns are overpriced for what they are. However given all of the above, this is right in line with the others. What we don't like -1) Warranty is only 1 year2) No water level indicator to see what's left...but then again, is it so disturbing to open the top lid and check?3) They really flubbed the design by making the spigot too low...no way you're fitting anything other than a standard coffee mug.4) Pursuant to #3 above, the drip tray is a nice idea but when extended, it further reduced that clearance to fill a mug.Altogether it's near the best choice for a coffee urn in this category. The question is, how long will it last?

Do not purchase!
I purchased my original urn on 2/13/2018. It worked great for just a few months and then the switch quit working. I tried turning it off and it wouldn't turn off and instead sparked as I had my back turned away. I just happened to hear it and unplugged it quickly. I called customer service at West Bend with no reply so I called a 2nd and a 3rd time. Finally got a reply and they stated they would send a new one. The process took nearly 3 weeks. I received my new product and within 3 weeks the element stopped heating. Again I waited nearly 2 weeks this time for a replacement. I received my new on in March 2019. It is now May 21, 2019 and yet again it has quit working. The switch will not turn my machine on or off. I called customer service again at West Bend and they will not refund the money paid for the machine. They will only offer a replacement - yes a 4th one!! No thanks!
