Finally, an accessible robotic arm!
The media could not be loaded. Always excited when Yahboom comes out with a new Raspberry Pi kit as I buy them all. But this is the one I've been asking about for years. Although I enjoy the assembly (like building blocks for big kids) this one comes with only a small amount of assembly required. The arm itself comes assembled as they felt it might be too complicated for their intended audience. You just have to mount it and the boards to the base. As the kit is intended for either NANO or Pi half the parts shown in my photo are extras :) which are always nice to have when you build as much as I do.The documentation is straight forward and easy to follow. And as with all recent kits there is already a YouTube video that covers every step of assembly. That demonstration provides exceptional clarity for anything in the documentation that you may have trouble with.As with all their kits there is a wealth of information, tutorials, sample code, and applications for the Dofbot on their site. The phone app is surprisingly feature rich. Lots of different ways to interact and experiment with the arm already programmed. Including gesture and color recognition via the included camera. Plenty of Python code samples to get you started with your own applications also. There are a couple of new things in this kit which are nice improvements. A micro sdcard is included that has the Pi image already installed and ready to run. The Pi image responds to a button press on the main board by putting it into a WiFi learning mode which uses the camera to read a QR code generated by the app. They also included their Pi RGB Hat which is a colorful fan with an attached multi-line display. Very helpful as it shows the current IP address of the Pi when connected to a network. This immediately became my favorite robot. :) Highly recommended.

Excellent next-step robotic arm
Bought the RPi version of this arm kit. The capability, movement, controllability and quality of the arm are excellent. The assembly difficulty is reasonable for a kit of this complexity. I call it "next-step" because this is much more than a basic entry-level robot arm; this is the kind of kit you want when your plan is to move up to something more capable and sophisticated, without spending thousands of $'s. Given the integration with RPi-hosted tools like OpenCV and ROS, there's a lot of intelligence available to this system. We have been using it, but not long enough to comment on long-term durability of the mechanisms -- but build quality appears good enough that I'm not expecting any problems.

Engineering degree required
This has got to be one of the most deceitful listings on Amazon. The seller advertises the ability to control the robot from your smartphone but the Android app doesn't have it available in device settings. The online documentation provides no step by step instructions to get the robot running without the Android app, so I couldn't even test the robot to see if it was fully functional. I ended up sending it back but only got a partial refund (I'm guessing it was a restocking fee). I will be contacting support to report this company for false advertising.

If you want to get into programming and using robots, this robotic arm is for you!
Only took about 20 mins to set up. Seems to be made very well and very excited about learning to program this to do other things other than the included programs.

Robotic Arm with Deprecated Software
This robotic arm comes with an outdated version of ROS which will stopped being supported in the summer of 2023 (ROS Melodic) and a deprecated version of Python (Python 2.7), and the manufacturer does not have any plans to update their software. The installation instructions also do not reflect the purchased product. I do not recommend.

Great arm for demonstrating / experimenting with a robotic arm integrated with AI
I have been very pleased with this arm. The overall engineering of this item is impressive: a sturdy arm with 6 smooth and powerful servos, a conservatively designed expansion board, and a good sample of code illustrating how the arm can be made to work and integrate with AI.This arm was purchased to integrate with an existing robot that had been armless. It took less than an hour to assemble the unit itself. A glitch I encountered on startup was quickly resolved by Yahboom's Technical Support. Be sure to review the FAQ for this device on the Yahboom site - the fourth item clarifies configuration requirements for Gesture Recognition. As a further note, the overall power requirements of this device aren't extravagant. On boot the average current draw from the 12.6v supply is approximately .3 amps, after boot, with several arm servos in motion, the average draw is approximately .7 amps.
