I want a sensor that I can move around and test my many outdoor plants. Most below used them for all-summer one-plant placement. Will it do my way?

Yes you can do it your way but it is not instantaneous. Certain criteria have to be met for it to read accurately and it has to settle in for a few hours.I keep it in one location to act as the "base" then I use then I use the $7.00 ones you get at Walmart. I compare where the cheap ones are reading in comparison to the Blumat then I test the pots or areas I want to check.

Just got my Blumat 50205. The instructions do not say whether to leave the water in the tube or pour it out ?

Yes, just like with a regular Blumat sensor, they always need to be full of water. And when you soak it, be sure to only soak the bottom part - if you soak the top it can stop the meter from working properly.

Will this product work accurately with potted houseplants? Is there a minimum soil depth for accurate readings?

The Meter will work in all soil/soilless media. the ceramic tip should be placed at about the level of the root system, which varies depending on plant and pot.

is this item durable,can it be left in ground all summer for newly planted 7 foot Technys ?

Yes you can leave it in the ground all summer, mine has been in soil for 6 months so far with no problems.
