For open ocean what would be better the dropstitch or the backbone

I purchased the rigid floor at the suggestion of a friend who did. We both take dogs kayaking. The harder flooring gives more stability, and better tracking. Have not taken mine on the open ocean, but on a big lake with a stiff headwind it did great!

Does this fit over the back bone?

IMHO the AE Rigidform Dropstitch Floor replaces the Back Bone. Based on my recollection, the Back Bone is an accessory that stiffens the kayak. The Dropstitch floor is very rigid all by itself. Can't see how you would use both at the same time. The whole kayak is very rigid when inflated to recommended pressures.

What drop stich floor should you buy with the Advanced frame lightweight

Which is better for rigidity this or the backbone

Hi, my experiences on rigidity of my ultra lite AE kayak are only on the very slow river comparing originally foam floor with dropstich floor, so I can not give a relevant answer. My new dropstich floor significantly improved both, speed and boat stability. On a 22 km distance on a similarly water conditions (river speed) I have improved speed for about 30% which is now almost 6 km/h. I strongly command purchase of a dropstich floor. Bostjan
