It's an awesome z-wave smart plug!
Hello there,Ok, I love Aeotec products and they are one of the main reasons I use z-wave devices. I have many of their toys but today I just want to talk about the SmartSwitches since I have 35 of it's older little brother, the 6 series, I bought my very first Smart Switch 7 to give it a try so, let's dig into it at once! This device looks awesome and I don't think you will face any challenge putting two in the same outlet. I don't have two of these 7 series so I tested it sharing the outlets with a series 6.Somehow this smart switch feels a little bit cheaper and lacks the USB port the old 6 series had and I think it gets a little bit warm but other than that, it looks like a killer product and I'm starting to love it. If you already have a series 6 and wonders if this little plug that could is worth it, I seriously believe it does!!!So far I tested successfully on (see the pictures):ISY994i ZW+ IR/ProHubitat ElevationHomeSeer HS4 using an Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5It works out of the box with all of the above. I had some challenges on HS4 with Authenticated S2 security but none of the other two supports that mode so to be fair, I can say it works on all of them. I just used S0 on HS4, the other two well... the default which incidentally is S0 anyways :DPerhaps you may want to tweak the parameters 20 and 21 which handles the minimum threshold for Watts and Kwh to be reported automatically. In short, if you are in the market looking for a small smart switch that will handle your coffee machine at 1500+ Watts (I tested it with my ECM Technika IV)... this is a great option. Most of the smart plugs will die at 1000W or even less.Hope you find this information useful.

Defective: This is my 4th Aeotec smart plug -- but it arrived defective.
This is the 2nd Get 7 Aeotec Smart plug, and I use it on Smartthings. I also have two of the Gen 6 versions that are not longer available. They were off the market for a time, and recently Amazon listed them again and I ordered one. It is defective, no light, no recognition on Smartthings and I tried the 20 second factory reset with no change. Now processing a return/replacement though Amazon.I hope that Samsung's sunlighting Zwave/Smarthings combined with the pending replacement system for Z-wave and Zigbe does not mean the end of Aeotec too or a reduction in their quality.

Defective Aeotec Smart Switch 7 cannot remotely control a load from SmartThings app
My new Aeotec Smart Switch 7 successfully paired to my Aeotec Smart Home Hub and looked great at first. The problem is that when I use the Smartthings app to tell the Smart Switch to turn on or off, it does not actually turn on or off, but the app says that it did. If I press the Action button on the Smart Switch, I can successfully turn on or off the load, and then the app will correctly update to show the new state and wattage. However, controlling it from the hub does not work at all. I tried a factory reset, excluded the device, then re-added the Smart Switch and got the same problem (cannot remotely control any load, but pressing the button works). I tried the speed test on the Smart Switch, which had the 2 second green light (best speed) result. I've tried the following loads, all with the same problem: 5W LED light bulb, 15W incandescent bulb, 300W refrigerator. The Smart Switch cannot remotely turn any of them on or off, but the Action button works, and using the Action button updates the app. I'm going to return this Smart Switch as defective.

High price but reliable
This is the only reliable switch that works great with Smartthings. I have got few of them all over the house and never had to reset them

Turns off/on randomly
I use 2 of these with an Aeotec smart home hub (SmartThings). They pair very easily through the SmartThings app and are very responsive when manually turning on & off. The power meter is a value add, too.The problem with these, and I don't know if it's the hub or the switches, is that they will randomly turn off & then back on. I hear the relays click twice in fast succession. Nothing is shown in device logs, though.Normally, this isn't a problem for lights but if you're controlling larger appliances (or just to see the power consumption), this can cause problems. I have one connected to a computer and the off/on behavior causes it to restart. The off/on behavior happens every 1-2 days on each switch.I don't know if this is a hub problem or a switch problem but it's certainly something that subtracted 2 scores from my rating.

It works with Qolsys IQPanel2
I wanted to be able to control the modem, in case I need to do a hard reset. In the last 6 months, I needed to have the modem hard reset, as I was not able to do that through the application provided by my internet provider (it asks to unplug the modem). With this device, I could turn the outlet on/off, thus "unplugging" the modem. I bought 2, in case I need to reset other devices connected to network.

Good but read the online manuals
Aoetec's online help desk is wonderful. For SmartThings control,Pairing requires one to read the online manuals. The brief insert included in the box with the switch is incomplete. For SmartThings control, make sure you install the Edge Drivers.
