Has the new profile and clamping system which is superior.
I’ve been cleaning windows for 30 years, and I’m an equipment snob. I like my stuff to be highly functional, light and durable. That said, I have been using the collar lock type poles for groundwork, for decades, and I am very familiar with all of the benefits, and detractors of this system. It’s the one where you twist a locking collar, which applies Friction to the inner part of the pole, to lock it in place. These are effective, but they wear out, and require a certain amount of strength, once they begin to wear.Enter the new system, with a flip switch type lock. I find them to be superior, in that, they require almost no strength to operate, and, the pole has a triangular cross-section, which anyone familiar with physics, or geometry, knows, renders a much stronger, and more durable pole, using less weight. I love the new system, and don’t miss the old one at all. That said, the listing shows the old collar, lock design, but what I actually received, was, the new, triangular, cross-section, flip lock pole, which is not that easy to find in an 8 foot, two section model. I used to zip by Home Depot, and grab one whenever I needed it, but they have foolishly stoped selling these. This is a window cleaner staple we are talking about. Anyway, I’m very happy, for the first time, not to have gotten what I ordered.Highly recommended.

The best cleaning rod a man can buy
Advantages:*The joints lock securely 100% of the time*Made of lightweight aluminum instead of heavyweight iron, which would stick to a magnet and might eventually rust*Accessories must be purchased separately but they snap on more securely than the screw-on accessories of other brands of cleaning rods*Enjoyable to use, partly because of the beautiful blue color and partly because of the name, Unger, which humorously reminds people of the character, Felix Unger, of the 1970s comedy show, The Odd Couple

Well Made and Sturdy for the Weight
I purchased this to pair with the Unger Hydro Brush and it works great. I was able to reach my over door awning for scrubbing without needing a ladder. The telescoping feature works nicely and holds tightly. I deducted one star because what appears to be a quick release mechanism at the business end of the pole that attaches to the brush doesn't seem to work and there were no instructions to reference in case I was too stupid to figure out why.

TERRIFIC, STURDY AND DOES THE JOB WELL!
Terrific product which is easily shortened or lengthened. I also purchased the attachment which is made for this rod - didn't know that it didn't come with it so when it arrived I had to look online and, sure enough, I needed the attachement. I have rated the attachment in a separate review.....it was terrific, as well.

Sloppy fit into Unger window cleaner head
I also purchased the "Unger Professional Microfiber Window Combi: 2-in-1 Professional Squeegee and Window Scrubber, 14" from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W8C14I). I'm disappointed that this made-to-match Unger pole is a very sloppy fit into it. The pole and cleaning head are both of good quality, but they just done mate well together. There's a lot of "play" in the connection, and it just doesn't seem strong/sturdy. I circumvented the problem by wrapping the end of the pole (where it mates with the cleaner) with two layers of gaffer tape. Now I have a tight press-fit connection between the two, but I really shouldn't have had to do that.

Do they even employ engineers!?
Okay, so I bought the Unger 18" squeegee first. Much to my dismay it didn't have the ability to take a standard screw handle like one would expect. Fast forward and I figure I'd go ahead and by this handle. How excited I was to have it snap into the product it was designed for! And it does! HOWEVER, the "snap-in" hole is elongated and 1/4" longer than the tab that pops into it. This means that the squeegee assembly has play (movement) and can slide up and down slightly and it can also rotate a bit side to side. So, it is NOT a nice solid tool as you would expect with mating parts made by the same company!OMG, are you kidding me!? How could you even bring this to market? This is supposed to be a pro tool? I feel like I should return them both at this point, but that's a royal pain. Perhaps I can begrudgingly get some use out of them, since they will only see limited use over the year. I just can't believe it. Do they even have engineers? If so, they should be brought before the ASME and put on trial and then sentenced to 10 years of picture-window washing.

This is the greatest thing since sliced bread
This is the greatest thing since sliced bread! I bought the "corner duster" & squeegee/pad combo with it. Perfect! I can reach anywhere to clean high windows and get those pesky cobwebs. I ordered 2 soft brushes. (indoor & outdoor) Advice: watch our fingers when you collapse the pole as I've pinched myself twice. (slow learner)
