2yrs & still running! Yay! No more weeding in my garden!
Update: I’ve had this weeder for 2 years and it is still working great! It really does get all the weeds. I have followed all the instructions (upkeep is easy, replaced the weeder wire twice I think & I bring it inside during winter). Still highly recommended!Original:This little guy has been fun to watch and has also done it’s job great. This is my first garden season using the gadget, so far not a single weed has survived in ~3 months. I have an 8’x8’x12” raised bed with plants spaced out according to the requirements on the instructions and my border is about a 6” above the soil (new & deep) level so there should be no escaping. Most of the garden gets full sun with a bit of afternoon shade. To be safe I do also have wire guards around each plant as well. When it runs it sounds like a very quiet weed wacker. It runs about 5 minutes, stops for a while and starts up again (as long as it has had sun to charge). I did buy this when on sale and am pleased with my purchase. I seriously have not weeded once. My only complaint would be to use the app I have to be very close to the device, but I suppose I don’t need to monitor it that often. I would recommend this!

Only worked for one day
Update: these are not waterproof, they are sort of water resistant. If you have heavy rain and it is outside, it may damage the device. The one day it worked, it did a good enough job. Now, it doesn't do anything. Has sat in the same spot for two weeks. I push the button, and the lights turn on. It makes a noise, but nothing else happens. I understand it's not an instant on, and it works for an hour or so at a time, then recharges. This may be a case of a bad unit, not how it would normally be.

Works great until it doesn’t
I’ve had my Terrill for two years and it has worked great until this Spring. I’ve contacted Customer Support twice already and received no response whatsoever. There are no errors. And the maintenance parts have been replaced. But this thing will not run. It’s a pretty expensive device to have to replace every two years. Not sure I’ll buy another one, especially from Terrill since their customer support is nonexistent.

It works
We bought this late last summer when we moved to a new house with a very large vegetable garden. We have a 6ft x 30 ft section enclosed with wire guards around potato plants and it definitely works. Attached photos show Tertill area around the potatoes vs. Non-tertill around the sweet corn and potatoes which was weeded with a hoe 1 week ago.A couple of lessons learned:1. Start with a weed free level surface and Tertill should keep it fairly weed free.2. Make sure you have sufficient border or Tertill will make a break for it.3. Keep obstacles out of the way (the few weeds in the Tertill section above are because we had a hose running through there this week and it got hung up on it).4. Check on Tertill throughout the week. Sometimes it digs itself into a hole and needs an assist.Solar power works like a charm. I charged it inside for the first go (and first time out for the season) and haven't need to charge it since.Given the size of the garden, we are buying a second one. It's not perfect, but it significantly cuts down on weeding.

Customer support poor
My device is almost 3 years old. Up until this year I have been basically satisfied with its performance in keeping weeds out of my very small, level garden. This year the device started malfunctioning. It would make a very loud noise, not an alarm but a noise, and then either go into standby mode or just stop all together. I sent two emails and made two phone calls to customer service and received no response from any of my attempts. Fortunately I was able to figure out the problem (it just took a little WD-40) and now my device is working just fine.Despite the fact that my problem is now solved and my device is working properly, I am very disappointed in the lack of response from customer service.

A good idea. The execution is a little rough at this point.
Nice concept. Weirdly fun. Kinda pricy. The "Guidelines for Success" one sheeter should really say that watching the How To videos on tertill.com is pretty much the only way to see a lot of fairly critical information. It is not easy to tell if the robot is on or just stuck. Not clear what the lights are doing on it other than just being entertaining...-->> update - I was able to easily get through to the company on email and got very helpful information. Right now, I would say you really need to watch all of the How To videos on their website. For example, the only place I see that actually tells you how to turn on the robot (it takes two button pushes and there is a delay after hitting the button so it is not completely obvious) is in a video called something like "Setup Your Garden" - I thought mine was setup so I did not watch that one right away... It is also really a good idea to get the phone app so that you can get a "read out" of what the robot is "doing" when it is silent - you can see battery life, etc.

Always stuck
It always gets stuck. My garden is completely flat but it can’t cope. A lot of the time I find it stuck in the dirt, it spins in a circle and digs itself a hole that it can’t escape from. It stopped working entirely for a while so I emailed customer support and never heard back. It has also on more than one occasion chopped up my plants that are taller than the robot… its sensors are supposed to prevent that from happening and they didn’t. Don’t waste your money, this product sadly IS too good to be true.

Flat ground=happy robot
Works great on flat ground. Flatten garden before planting and you will not be sorry with this robot!
