Stanley Planes: A Guide to Identification and Value

Excellent reference book
We have quite a few, now antique, hand planes by Bailey/Stanley. This book was very helpful in helping me to identify the multitude of planes we have. It was also helpful in the history of these planes and who developed/made them. I really learned a lot about them!

Handy Reference
This is not as detailed and exhaustive a Stanley type study as the "Blood & Gore" website, but it is a handy reference. I'm not sure how accurate the pricing information is - as prices will vary over time. Still, as a quick reference, it's rather handy.

All in on hand tools and the history and how each was used
Didn’t cover everything Stanley planes but then it wasn’t meant to. It’s a good general reference for Stanley planes and gets you looking in the right direction for information. It’s the first one ext toolI look at before diving In deeper to research a tool and often answers my question with out going to far. I also use it like a wish book for planes to add to my collection. Once you start there’s no coming back from that rabbit hole just on to the next tool and then the next one and the next one and we’ll you never stop. LOL . Lots of history and learning and well in retirement it’s really a lot of fun to find that elusive tool and learn anything you can about it.

Excellent primer on Stanley planes
The book is a collection of opinions on the merchantability of Stanley planes. Through that course virtually every Stanley planes is discussed, pictured and strengths and weaknesses discussed. This book is not so much for users of the equipment but collectors and affecianados of Stanley planes. Excellent if you just getting started in collecting

More of a magazine than a book.
Ok, it's rather brief and has the look of a self published magazine, however, Very informative and worth buying. It's a good intro to Stanley collecting.
