The first songs that really jumped out at me were Blue Heart and Six o'Clock. I think Blue Heart may be my favorite, but Along Our Road, Gone, and Immigrant are also very good. Really, I don't think there's a bad song on the album--I don't find myself skipping any while listening to it. I think that Indicator generally sounds similar to their previous album April Skies , and has at least as much depth and polish. Indicator brings back the slightly harder edge that wasn't as present on April Skies, but in a way that's more melodic than before, if that makes sense. I think that Indicator may be a better album than April Skies, overall, even if there isn't a song that quite tops Supermarket (My Angel), my favorite from April Skies. If I had to recommend just one Deine Lakaien album (rather than a combination of songs from several), I might still say White Lies . But Indicator certainly wouldn't be a bad one to start with. I hope that Deine Lakaien eventually comes up with more songs in the vein of "The Executioner" and "The Pope," but I can't complain about the direction they are going. I also recommend the song A Fish Called Prince on the Gone single. It was previously included in a compilation. There is also a limited edition of Indicator that includes some live acoustic versions and a few other new songs, my favorite of which is "Young 2010." Diese Regel gilt mit Sicherheit für Indicator. Die Vielfalt des musikalischen Ausdrucks der letzten Alben kumuliert hier in einem Einzigen, fast sogar in einem einzigen Song. Indicator hat viele Facetten: Melancholische Liebeslieder wie One night und die Single Auskopplung Gone finden sich ebenso darauf wie atemlose Songs voll Verzweiflung (Immigrant) und unterdrückter bis offener Wut (Six o'clock). Dabei zeigt Sänger Alexander Veljanov eine stimmliche Variabilität, die sich in dieser Form bisher nur in seinem letzten Soloalbum Porta Macedonia erahnen ließ. Aber auch Synthesizer-Freunde kommen nicht zu kurz: Ganz besondere Perlen sind hierbei Go away bad dreams und The old man is dead. Es ist sicher kein Album, dass man so nebenbei laufen lässt: Man muss sich einlassen auf diese Musik. Das aber lohnt sich, dann geht man auf eine Reise, auf der man Raum und Zeit verliert. Emotional aufwühlend ist das. Für mich gehört die zweite CD der limited Edition daher unbedingt dazu - Spring will come vertreibt die bösen Geister und mit Alabama findet Indicator dann sein eigentliches, friedvolles Ende. Die Live-Aufnahmen von der Acoustic Tour, die sich noch als Zugabe finden, zeigen einmal mehr die Flexibilität dieser Band und geben einen kleinen Eindruck in die Konzertatmosphäre. Insgesamt merkt man ganz deutlich, wie viel Arbeit in diesem Album steckt, so verschieden sind die Stücke in Struktur, Harmonik, Rhythmus und Texten.
