Works Great - Easy Install / Setup
I purchased this unit with uncertainty because of older reviews questioning whether the Intelliconnect Smart Control would be able to control my existing (Dec '21) Superflo VS variable speed pump, and Hayward Heatpro heatpump.IT WORKS PERFECTLY AND EASILY!The unit came with updated Installation Instructions that specifically addressed connecting a Superflo VS pump using the RS-485 communications. You only use the Green and Yellow wires of the Pentair 356324Z SuperFlo-SuperMax-WhisperFlo VST VS Automation Cable (purchased separately). The Intelliconnect paired with my Superflo VS pump on the first attempt. No software updates needed for either unit. Could not have been easier! The Pentair Home iPhone app has excellent control options for the Superflo VS pump. You can have 4 different speed modes, editable on the fly, and have schedules to control when various modes run. Or you can just manually select a different mode to change the speed. There is feedback to the app to indicate the actual speed of the pump currently. The Intelliconnect includes a built-in Air Temperature Sensor. I added a separate pool water Temperature Sensor. The control of the Hayward Heatpro is via a 2-wire connection that is a simple on/off signal to the heater. There is no feedback from the heater. The Intelliconnect only enables the heater to run to the temperature you have set on the heater panel. If you set your heater for a higher temperature value, you could use the Intelliconnect to toggle the heater on and off to control to a lower temperature. And you can disable the heater from the app.The heater control settings include a User-set "Pump Override" speed setting, so the app automatically speeds up your pump to the minimum speed necessary for your heater's flow switch to enable heater operation. You'd have to experiment to determine your heater's necessary speed. The only missing feature is a repeatable daily schedule for when you want the heater to run. There is a One Time Schedule feature, but it runs only once. You could program April-September, but you can't program to turn On every day from 6am-6pm, then Off from 6pm-6am. There is no repeating feature. What I did to overcome this is set the heater Pump Override speed well below the flow switch value. I set a Superflo Pump mode speed adequate to turn the heater flow switch on. Then I use the Pump schedule to select a low speed at night, which is below the flow switch value, and a higher speed during the day which is above flow switch speed.I already had an outside WiFi mesh node for other equipment. I had no problems with WiFi set-up, signal strength, or reliability. I can imagine if you are trying to get a signal from a WiFi system indoors, that you could have signal strength problems. Not due to the Intelliconnect, due to building materials.I can access my Pentair Home pool app from wherever my iPhone is, and control the pool from anywhere.I am really pleased with this unit.

Good idea BAD execution with software bugs!
I like the idea but the execution is terrible. I finally installed this unit as instructed. It worked okay with the Link2o app (even though not intuitive or responsive). Then I transitioned to Pentaie Home app (as instructed). It had a much better interface. It worked fine for a few days. Then the booster pump kept turning on on its own. I emailed Pentair support with no response. So I deleted my setup from both apps. Reinstalled on new Home app only. Worked great for a few days again. But this time the pool pump kept on going on and off on its own. So I was forced to take it out and put my old mechanical timer back in.I think their app has bugs. Some of which I could live with but others bugs could really cause damage (e.g. booster pump running while pool pump is not). I Hope to hear back from tech support but not holding my breath. For now I would avoid this controller. Good luck.

Incredibly Intuitive
We have a somewhat basic setup with a Sta-Rite Max-e-pro pump, Sta-Rite DE filter, two heaters (heat pump and Mastertemp), and an Ichlor unit. No hot tub. It took a bit to wire and run the comms but, once set up, the intelliconnect has been amazing. I receive email updates from my Ichlor about salt levels, I can adjust my pump schedule and speed, lighting, and heater operation/temp (for the Mastertemp) all from my phone. We use the heat pump electric unit for supplemental heating and it's not tied into the Intelliconnect. Pools are expensive and this is add-on unit no exception, but the efficiency it adds is great.Pro tip - be sure to order a temp sensor if using with a heater. Depending on your setup you may need to order shielded comm wire as well. Lastly, ensure you have a decent wifi signal wherever this will be installed.

Works ok but horrible to set up
Unit works ok and can be controlled by Wi-Fi. I almost sent it back however due to difficulty with the app. It takes numerous passes to setup and save each pool component. It will save part but not all the info. When you change one component setting it wipes out others. After NUMEROUS attempts finally got them all right. Unit works ok, but not on the right time zone. It will not accept my address for location or any other near by address I attempted to add. UnIt apparently defaults to Central time zone, so all my settings are off by one hour, since I am in Eastern. I will have to just live with that I guess.Update: After using a while I have found that the app is worse than I thought. If you turn off a schedule for one device it turns off other devices that are running and you have to restart them. Horrible, and no consistency. After working for over an hour to finally get the app to run my heater, the next time I go to use it it won’t let me turn it on, says it is in “cool down mode”! Totally in unreliable app!

Very Buggy, Hard To Link to WIFI
This setup is affordable. On paper it looks like it should work great. But the app is buggy and I had a hard time getting it to link up to my WiFi (and I was using 2.4Ghz band as required). I tried it for a few days and finally just gave up and returned it.

Pump turns on as long as it is in ‘auto’ mode. No control of ‘auto’ mode via phone
