is this same as the magnetic platform used with thin dies?

No it is not, it isn't magnetic at all. The magnetic platform is much better when trying to line up items to cut with a stamped item.

does this platform replace the need for the solo thin die adapter for use with the Vagabond?

It covers both embossing & die cutting. Mine arrived with hinges broken, I just use it the way it is.

how long is this platform?

I believe it is 6 1/2 wide by 13 long. It is the same width as the standard platform.

If you have the Big Shot and buy this, you do not need the Solo Wafer Thin Adaptor, right??

I do have a Big Shot and I do not use a wafer.
