It actually works !
Ordered the 10k BTU A/C on Sunday and it was delivered on Monday afternoon . Pulled out an 18 yr. old 12k LG unit from a through the wall sleeve and put this unit in the old sleeve . This GE unit was smaller so it was easy to cut solid Styrofoam blocks to seal around the open space ... New GE unit is working fine and a lot quieter than the old LG it replaced . It comes with a remote control which is nice ... I did download the app but after seeing the permissions this thing wants , I deleted it ... sure it is nice and entertaining for a minute or two ... but I really don't think I need to send the indoor temperature of my house to china along with the ability to monitor my carbon foot print and sell the info to the U.S. government .I am glad people write reviews so other people can get an idea of what to expect but when I read a few reviews about bright light inside the unit , I thought they were kinda crazy ... My apology ... the reviews were not crazy vampire people that were sensitive to a little light ... its really a thing with these new a/c units ... its really bright after install ... on or off it does not make a difference if the sun is out it will be about equal to turning on a 40 watt light bulb ... the cause of this thing lighting up is because they are using cheap open cell white Styrofoam which is nearly transparent as an inside/outside air separator .... like everything else , its likely much cheaper than black plastic .... the fix for this is a lot of work ... remove the case from the unit and paint the white Styrofoam with black latex paint or any dark water based paint ... or maybe spray it with glue and use aluminum foil ... just remember .. solvent based paint will actually eat the Styrofoam and likely void any warranty .Update .... Its been 2 months ... its working very well ... Eco mode on this unit works great , I would buy it again ! I should explain the picture ... My old unit was built in though the wall so I just left the sleeve in the wall and put this new unit in the old sleeve , I cut a solid block 5"x20" to fill in the size difference and printed the vent on my house printer and glued it over the foam just to make it look more finished !

Wasted my hard earned money
Do not buy this ac I bought this AC on may & it stopped working after 4 months. It was dripping a lot of water everywhere, obviously I can’t get a refund thru Amazon since it’s past the 30 days & the customer service for GE sucks. Never again will I purchase a GE appliance.

Great air conditioner at an affordable price.
I bought this for the size, the price point and for some of the features. Most of all, to cool off my middle bedroom, which I use as a craft room. This air conditioner moves the air throughout the 2nd floor hallway, down into the livingroom. Keep in mind that my house is a midsized to smaller home.

Paid for bells and Wessels, did not get them all.
I paid for a top-of-the-line A/C and got 9-10th of it. The Wi-Fi does not work. The A/c goes to sleep before the connection can be made.Outside of that, it's great. It turns itself on and off, its quit, and keeps the room cool.

Brrrrrrrrrrr
I live on the East Central Florida Coast alone. A Handyman easily installed the AC by himself. The AC runs great and is very quiet. All my neighbors have Central Air and their electric bill is 3xs more than mine.

Worked for two summers, now doesn't cool.
Sad day, but the AC no longer cools. It's just a big noisy fan. It worked well for two NYC summers but now, unless someone knows a way to fix it, will be gifted to a passerby.

Not worth it
Before purchasing it, the description stated it was natively compatible with Homekit. It is not. The only control available out of the box is the SmartHQ app, which is extremely limiting as far or options. No public API available to control the AC remotely. It's possible to use IFTTT with webhooks, but as of today, a free IFTTT account allows only two requests, which only allows you to turn the AC on and off. After every restart, the AC goes back to eco mode, so to switch it to cool mode, no choice but to use the SmartHQ app. I added a switch using HomeBridge that calls the IFTTT webhooks so it can appear on my Home app, but it's nothing a cheap AC can do with a smart plug. I would return it, but I'm too lazy to uninstall it from my window. Not recommended.
