Very helpful to understand how the transmission goes together and how it works, with recommended parts to replace and upgrade. Helped with my Humvee 4L80E removal and reinstall

it left out a lot of steps

This is a reference more than an instructional book. There are some good tips, but the pictures are often too dark to make out, don't give specifics about replacement parts and there is nothing about removal/installation of the actual transmission. But it does have some useful info

Nice print and good illustrations

If this is your first time building this unit you better go ahead and pick up an ATSG manual. This book does a decent (not great) job of showing some of the different models as in early and late and a couple possible upgrades. However if you are hoping for detail with bushing replacement, valve body details, or a comprehensive assembly instructions (Torrington bearing placement, thrust washer placement, clearance checking, more) your on your own! It’s not all bad but certainly not nearly all needed to make sure all bases are covered.

Excellent manual to complement, it clarifies many doubts I had with this transmission and has very good photographs. Delivery was faster than I expected.
