When the Power Turns Everything Black, This Will Shed Light on Everything
Being completely honest I was looking for a gimmick light bulb that would turn on in your mouth while portraying Uncle Fester Addams. Most of the gimmick bulbs on here were cheaply made and easily break, but this light bulb is like the monster truck of bulbs. It's a bit heavy, but once fully charged and the power goes out, this bulb will kick on and shine like an LED sun!! You can even remove it from a socket as long as your flesh connects with two points of metal on the bulb, and boom... you've become a human flashlight.Best thing is, it holds about 4 hours of a charge and nobody would be the wiser when the power is on because it looks like all the other light bulbs.

Great for safety, a little tricky to set up
I have a bunch of Sengled bulbs in my house, so when I wanted to get my parents started with smart home items I got them Sengled, too. Smartbulbs are great, but not much good when the power goes out, which happens pretty often where my folks live. When I saw these bulbs, I knew they would help. After charging them for 6 hours per the instructions, I tried them out. At first, I was the only one in the family who could get them to come on when I held them in my hand or used my fingers to hold the prongs on an unplugged lamp cord. I was also the only one who had moisturized my hands a short time before, and that’s what seems to have made the difference. They do say you can use a damp cloth between the prongs, but I didn’t want to get it wet since I was going to plug it back in. You can also stick it in your mouth like Uncle Fester and it lights right up. Probably not the best idea, but if your hands are full... Besides, my grandson thought it was hilarious! The next problem was where to put them. Originally, I thought we’d install them in a couple of hall light fixtures. That way, if the electricity went out at night my parents would be able to move around their house since these lights go on automatically when the power fails. Only one problem: The fixture has to be switched on or the bulbs don’t come on. My parents didn’t want to leave their lights on all night, and I didn’t want them to have to navigate to the light switch in the dark. The solution: Put them in a couple of table lamps, controlled by smart plugs to turn them on/off at dusk/dawn. (This also would keep them charged, since they need to be powered at least 6 hours a month to keep the battery charged.) But it didn’t work, because apparently the smart plugs don’t complete the circuit if they’re powered off so the lights don’t go on if the power fails. We ended up digging out a couple of the old style lamp timers (the ones with the spinning dials) and those worked perfectly. Now my parents have a light both upstairs and down that lights enough of the house so they can move around, get to the bathroom, etc. when the electricity goes out. We have 2 more of the bulbs in other table lamps without timers, so they stay charged and can be removed to use like flashlights, too.

I Now Feel More Secure Using These Bulbs!
We purchased these bulbs at the recommendation of a friend after we had a 5 hour power outage. I sure wish we had known about them back then! We now have them placed so that if the power goes out again, we won't be in the dark and can safely walk through the house. Just as an FYI, these bulbs have to be used in a fixture that has only one bulb. If the switch turns on multiple lights, these bulbs stay on all the time. So as long as you are putting them in a socket that is not on a string, you will be okay. We also bought the bulbs that can be put in a recessed can ceiling light. Again, they only work in a socket that is not on a string of sockets. So we put it in the can over our sink since it is the only light on that switch. We did not use them in the ceiling cans in our hallway because several lights come on with the same switch. In that case the bulb stayed on all the time. If you don't mind that single bulb staying on, it works. Sort of like a security light at night. We think these bulbs are a great safety feature in our home. Much better than candles and oil lamps!

Perfect for a power failure
When I came across this emergency LED bulb, I was very interested in getting one. I wanted it for the living room light which is left on at night so an older relative can see to go to the bathroom at night. It seems to be a well-built device, and it is a bit larger than your normal LED bulb because of the battery and electronics. It is stated to be a 40 watt equivalent, but as I have noticed with most LED bulbs it seem significantly brighter than that. The mistake I made was purchasing the cool white (5000k). I didn’t know that there were versions with a warmer color temperature (3000k). The cool white produces a very white color in the room which I do not like. Be aware of this.I’m not sure what the mechanism is by which this detects a power failure, but it knows the difference between switching the light off or unplugging the lamp verses a power failure. They warn about using this in parallel other lamps as the emergency mode may be triggered. I tried using it in my kitchen light fixture, which consists of four bulbs, and the device flashed on and off when the power was off. It provides about 3.5 hours of light in a power failure, and fortunately I usually don’t get power failures that last longer.

Great product
Very useful, good quality. The only thing I'm not so happy is that sometimes it stays on once you turn the light off (in the normal mode, with regular power). I read the instructions and it says that it has to be in a single switch, wich is not my case. I like that when there is no power, you can turn on and off from the same wall switch.

Super achat
