Worked wonderfully for about 2 years. Now it just keeps saying "Lo" even after trying several different batteries.

I bought this thermometer for candy making. We are vegetarians and do not eat meat. However, I didn’t like the glass thermometer I had for candy making and decided to buy this instead after reading some reviews about them being useful during candy making.Initially, the thermometer was off by 4-5 degrees. However, I calibrated it and now it gives me near perfect values while making candy. I like the fact that it is more accurate than my candy thermometer. I love the backlight on it and the fact that it is easy to hold and use. This thermometer doesn’t speak, that might be a different model. I love the ease with which the probe opens and closes and shuts on and off. I also like the fact that it measures both in Fahrenheit and Celsius. The probe is long enough not to burn my hand. I haven’t tested the waterproof feature yet. It takes in just a coin sized battery which is great. I have no use for the can opener though I believe it would be a good feature during a barbecue.I love the calibration feature, which is not found in most thermometers, but is essential. While calibrating, make sure the water is ice cold or you will get an ERR message. I contacted the company and they resolved my question. Great customer service!The only thing I don’t like is that it is difficult to measure temperature without tilting the pot when making a very small quantity of candy, as otherwise the thermometer touches the base of the pot. But, I don’t think that’s the thermometer’s fault.

Got a great deal on getting the color red, no idea but ill take it! I love these.... instant readings and super easy to use - even for my wife!! Magnet and bottle opener are nice additions. My kids played with and broke my 1st unit, I happily ordered another.I like it, a lot.

One of the challenges with plant based "meat" products is that you can't really tell how "done" the item is just by looking at it. This thermometer allows us to ensure that the food is cooked to the proper safe temperature without having to overcook it just to be safe.The magnetic back allows the thermometer to live on the fridge where it is always handy.Swinging the probe out turns the unit on which is convenient, while the auto-off extends battery life.I checked temperatures in boiling and ice water and the readings were accurate.The large display with good contrast makes it easy to read.While it does not take super long, it is not quite as "instant" in reading the temperature as I would like, thus the reduction of one star in the rating.

Where has this been all of my life? For so little cost, it has brought me such joy! I have no problem with accuracy and use this to test water temperatures in the faucets for monthly requirements at an Assisted Living Facility that I work for. I've used it on turkey, chicken (all different parts), beef and pork. It comes with a spare battery which is useful when "someone" didn't return the probe all of the way to the correct position to turn it off and drained the battery. Word to the wise, wait for the probe to click and you will not experience the same tragedy as myself. I also love the fact that it has a magnetic back so that I can tuck it back on the side of my fridge for the next tasty food experience.

I wasn't sure what to expect of this for only costing $12, but I was pleasantly surprised. I also own a high end instant read thermometer and I checked this one against it. My much more expensive one settles on a reading almost instantly (less than 2 seconds). This one takes about 4 to 5 seconds to settle on a reading. However, it reliably reads the same temp as my better one within ±1 degree or less. (this one has fractional degrees) Plus this one has a backlight which my other one does not. The other one that I've had for a couple years cost over $100, so the fact that this one for only $12 gives me the same reading is quite awesome.Highly recommended.

I have had two different meat thermometers in the past years, both of them were the type with the long cord and the probe at the end. Both were accurate at times, but not always, and I was sometimes guessing if they were correct or not. I finally got disgusted with the process and decided to try another one. This time, I bought this one which would give me an instant readout. I just got a new gas grill, and I wanted to be sure I was cooking meat thoroughly and I didn't want to stand and wait or leave the lid open for too long,Well, it works great and it is fast. I have used it several times so far, and happy, happy, happy! Works great and I am thrilled. My daughter always seems to ask me if I got it cooked enough, now I can be certain, it is cooked enough!

This is a great thermometer. It reads very quickly and accurately. I’ve only used it on meat so far, but plan to use on baked goods and when checking the temp of reheated foods in the microwave.I’ve had many digital thermometers over the years and this is the best one. The probe is sharp and easily pierces meat for quick temp checks. It turns on/off when you move the probe from its resting slot. The display is brightly lighted and easy to read. If you need to take a temp several times, just wipe it off and return to the closed position.Another nice feature is the most common meat temps for how well you like your meat cooked is printed on the probe. A handy chart is also included along with a spare battery. Both a very nice touch!I can’t imagine cooking or baking without a thermometer and I definitely recommend this one.

When compared to another thermometer this was accurate and almost instant. Really like that it is magnetic so I can always find it on the side of the fridge. Has a turn off after a certain amount of time if you forget to close it, so this saves battery life

Real fast readings, specially useful when what you are cooking has a slim margin for error..

Bought this meat thermometer for a blind friend as it says it talks, to tell the temp of what he is cooking.There is no talk function, which is not useful for a blind person.Very expensive for a standard meat thermometer, I would not buy, and I would not buy from the seller!

There is no talking functionality as advertised in the title and description. No mention of talking functionality in the manual. Does read temperature, but the title and description are blatantly incorrect. Upon returning the item, I had to pay postage, so now I'm out $12 because they sent me a product that does not do what it claims to do.
