Great for classrooms but expensive
These are terrific for my Health classroom. I teach 6th grade health and one of the units is nutrition. We use "My Plate" as a guide to teach healthy portions and diet. The kids have a poster to reference on the wall but to actually see a real plate with the portion sizes already marked out on it is fabulous. These will be a great addition to my nutrition resources. I must say how I don't think these should cost $45. Twenty dollars should be more than enough for a few plastic plates.

Great Reference
As a recent Bariatric patient, I am relearning to eat and portion control is VERY important. I selected these because of the divided sections. I was previously using 'The Adult Portion Plate' but, I tended to overfill the undivided sections. I do not actually eat off these plates---just use them to prep meals. Also I recommend hand-washing; and the FDA do not recommend microwaving melamine.

Cute concept--particularly for educational purposes
These are cute little plates. They are made of lightweight BPA-free break-resistant melamine, which is why I was interested in them for use in my RV.They didn't come with any instructions, and I wasn't sure from the picture legend on the bottom whether they are dishwasher safe. I do know that you are not supposed to melamine in the microwave. So far, I have been washing them by hand, which I imagine will help them last longer and prevent the screen printed labels from fading or getting scratched off. What's unique about these dishes is that they have four sections, each color-coded and labeled for grains, protein, fruits and vegetables. This is great for teaching kids about the food groups and serving sizes. The problem is that there is no section for dairy products, although I suppose you could put those in the protein section. As I mentioned, I plan to use these plates for potlucks and carrying in my RV. They would also be nice for picnics, camping and backpacking. Elementary school and daycare teachers would find these useful for teaching kids about nutrition. And families with fussy children who don't like their different foods to "mix together" will appreciate the bright colors and divided sections.About the only thing I don't like about these plates is their price. At $46.34 for a pack of four (or $11.59/plate), I think they are kind of expensive. Particularly if these are for use in educational institutions, they don't seem affordable.

Portion Control!
The trouble most of us seem to run into when on a healthy diet program is portion sizing, No matter how closely you measure the first time, the sizes one eyeballs will grow if one is not careful. These divided melamine plates will help you stay on track and keep your meals in balance. I am attaching one to our refrigerator with magnets to have an easy guide on hand.

Durable and helpful
These plates - or ones like them - have been around for a while, and I've long been intrigued by them. It seems like an interesting way to make sure your eating is somewhat on target, particularly for those who are trying to watch what they eat. Now having said that, I would break these out for company - but for just eating at home with the family? Not a bad thing. The plates themselves are durable, the dividers are created with the plate (so no danger of falling off or anything), and the colors are bright. Each compartment is sized appropriately for about the amount one should be eating of each (unless someone were to MOUND their compartment, in which case all bets are off). The only downside to these is the cost - they're a little more expensive than I would like. But otherwise - they're sturdy enough for regular use, and the set of 4 is great for most purposes.

great way o explain MyPlate
In my TOPS meetings we have learned to divide the meal into four portions and each portion is represented on this compartment plate. It follows the guideline of the Myplate program. I ordered this to show my TOPS group and share the plates with them.

Nice item!
Nice idea. It sort of feels like using a kid's plate, but easy to portion out your types of food. Having a set of 4 is nice so you have spares!
