Effective for older exercisers
I am 69 years old and have no trouble doing these flexibility exercises. They take only 1/2 hour a day and I can feel the difference after a month of using this video 5 times a week. I do not hear as much crepitation in my joints. My back is not as stiff at the end of the day. I have spinal stenosis, severe scoliosis, and osteoporosis. However, I do not have very much back pain because I am a fervent exerciser. (I have been active for years but, I still feel that this tape has caused improvement in the way I feel.) The tape is fairly well done. Miranda is pleasant and the setting feels very comfortable. There are a few errors, and her explanations of body mechanics are too simplistic- often so simplistic as to border on inaccurate. However, the tape is easy to follow, the exercises don't hurt a fragile back like mine, and the workout does get results. So a five star review. An older couple who are my friends, recommended Classical Stretch. She is weak from advanced cancer and he is a runner and cyclist. Both are getting very good results. Since I use this same DVD, I know the routines well. I turn off the volume of the DVD and listen to my own headset.

My right shoulder feels so much better already
I have been having huge amounts of pain in my right shoulder lately. True it has been building up for years but last week it started becoming unmanageable. I saw Miranda's DVDs featured on a PBS special & ordered them here on Amazon. The DVDs arrived this morning. I did 20 minutes of the first DVD & my shoulder feels so much better. My neck had not been hurting but it popped during one of the movements. I also walked much better after this morning's session. I broke my right femur 2 years ago & am still recovering my gait. Life is better this evening. Thank You Miranda & Amazon.

Very easy to do
I am only 57, but have health issues that involve my muscles. The first time I did this workout I was not impressed. It seemed almost too easy. But the next day, I noticed that my muscles had done things they were not accustomed to. The workout is easy to follow, even for beginners. The movements are very slow and fluid. It was not painful to my joints. The only issue I have with this DVD is that it is poorly filmed. It has the feel that it was done by an amateur and the lighting is bad. I have not had a chance to continue using it on a regular basis, but I think when I am able to do so I will definitely see results.

Will work on laptops, but only with special instructions
This is a follow-up to a one-star review for an order in which I received a DVD that would not play on 3 different laptops. Following that, the seller offered to reimburse or send a replacement. I asked for a replacement and it arrived in a couple of days. The second DVD would not work either. Seller offered to try sending one more DVD that had been tested first, or reimburse. Before doing that I asked if he had any suggestions. He wrote, "When played on a computer,they work best with the keyboard arrow and enter keys, rather than a mouse. And, when using a mouse, it's best to point and click directly below the title text for each section, not on the corresponding image or directly on top of the text. This is not an issue on a traditional DVD player..." I tried it and both DVDs work with those instructions.If I could rate the seller and the product separately, I give the seller 5 stars for customer service: promptness, courtesy, responsiveness and following through. All good. As for the product, although they claim they are working on improvements, they are still selling a product that works on DVD players but not on laptops, which is a defect. Thus, 3 stars.

By far the most effective workout I have ever done for back pain and overall stiffness
I am 62 with mild scoliosis, kyphosis and early stage osteoporosis. I've tried back braces, working out at a gym and all sorts of video workouts. This is by far the most effective workout I have ever done for back pain, foot pain and overall stiffness. My mobility has definitely increased, my energy is way up and I have not had back pain for a solid week. In fact, I was also able to sit through a 4 hour opera yesterday in New York with no discomfort whatsoever. (Nor did I have any discomfort climbing 3 flights of stairs to get to my seat.) I am forever grateful for this workout and plan to try some other Miranda videos. Like others have said, if only I had found these 20 years ago!My only question is whether or not these exercises provide enough stress on the spine to build bone. That said, I know that I am way more active and using my muscles since the pain has ceased. Thank you Miranda!

Wonderful Well Done!
I do these stretching exercised everyday since I received my DVD. I always read the reviews before I make a purchase on Amazon. I was a bit skeptical because some of the comments were not at all good. But having seen Miranda Esmonde-White on PBS my gut feeling was to believe in the good comments. I am so happy I did. IMO the problem with most of the poor reviews came from watching the DVD on a player that did not have the capability of producing very good formatting. I believe this because when I got the DVD, I put it in a small portable DVD player and it produced the same results that people were complaining about. When I tried it in my computer it was a well produced and clear program.Ms. Esmonde-White is a wonderful teacher and so thorough in her instructions as she goes though the routines. Also so considerate of her viewer's comfort as we do the exercises. I can see and feel the yoga practice I studied years ago in the stretches. So I know she is on the right path. Anybody looking to regain their mobility would do well to practice these Classical Stretches with this teacher.

Very effective
I have had amazing results using this video. Two years ago my bkne density was -2.0, but since incorporating these exercises into my daily bone strengthening regime and following a more alkaline diet, my bone density has increased by 10%. This has given me so much encouragement to carry on.

Great program!
I have used the workout a lot already and find it is nice to be able to do it at different times of the day. I am 84 and I am enjoying the gentle exercises to music and also being able to choose which workout I feel like each day.
