Caution: the shards to break off and may not pass through
We have bought several of these products and never had a problem. Around Christmas time we received another one and for the some reason it was softer than the others. My German Shepherd ended up at the veterinarian where they had induce vomiting to try to get the shards out unfortunately they could not get all of them and they pierced his inside. Please use these with caution. My dog was a senior dog so they could not operate due to the risks of anesthesia. I attached a copy of his x-ray, Where you can clearly see large shards that broke off. We're devastated.

DANGEROUS PRODUCT, TRUST ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOW SO
This is a SUPER, SUPER DANGEROUS TOY. One of the people here on the reviews has also stated their dog got this toy between the dog's jaw and teeth! I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED. Thankfully I could remove it by myself (my dog was yelping during the whole process.)This product SHOULD NOT BE SOLD. HIGHLY, DANGEROUS PRODUCT PLEASE GET SOMETHING ELSE!

Terrible shape - got stuck on my dogs jaw
I've stopped buying raw hides and started buying bones like this because they're so much better for dogs. I normally love them, but the shape of this one is not ideal. I thought it looked cool, but my dog ended up getting her jaw stuck in the hole. I don't know how often it happens, but it was still scary. I thought we'd have to go to the vet to have it cut off because every time I tried to help her, she's cry and pull away. I also bought the same bone in a different shape, and I definitely recommend going with that one instead.

Do Not Buy this Bone
Do not Buy this bone for your dog. We have the Y shaped bone and they love it but I bought this one after reading the reviews and my Boxer got it stuck on her lower jaw and it was a $600 vet bill to have it removed

I bought three Benebones for my three dogs a month ...
I bought three Benebones for my three dogs a month ago. For variety, I purchased one of these and two of the wishbone shaped in bacon and chicken flavors. My dogs chew on them all and swap them regularly, but this shape is the most popular one. They'll chew on the wishbones if this one isn't available. The pic should give you an idea of how much action this shape gets. I think the ridges combined with the easier to "handle" shape is what makes it preferable. The only issue I have with this one is that they're able to chew off larger pieces (but not a size that concerns me too much).I hope this helps those of you who are wondering which variety to purchase.

My Dog Loves Benebones
My dog loves Benebones, but she's not a big fan of this shape. She prefers the small Benebone.I am revising this review because after I submitted it, the company contacted me telling me that they wanted my dog to be happy with her Benebone and since she preferred the other Benebone, they wanted to send one to her. They did not ask me to change my review as a condition of receiving a different Benebone. I sent them my receipt for this dental chew and they sent me two of the other Benebones — and refunded the price of this Benebone. It's not often that companies show such commitment to their customers, so when they do— that should be rewarded. Thus, I've increased my star rating to five stars. Benebone LLC simply rocks and you should not hesitate for a minute to do business with them.My dog was so excited to receive her new Benebones! She could smell them before I opened the package, so she was going nuts. Once I got them open, she grabbed one out of my hand and took off with it before I could take the label off. When I told her to bring it back, she growled at me! Haha! She's so ferocious. (Small dog. 20 lbs.) She did eventually bring it back and I did get the label off— and then she ran off with it again. A new Benebone just made her day.So, thanks Benebone for being a great company and standing behind your products! I do think perhaps a larger dog will love this shape, but your wishbone-shaped Benebones are pure heaven for my dog.

Good chew bones
I have bought Benebones before from a local pet boutique so I decided to try this shape. I *almost* returned them once I read some of the negative reviews. I’m glad I dug a little deeper. First off, there was a recall on this product. This is an updated design. You can tell by the opening on the handles as it is much smaller to avoid jaws getting stuck. I did receive the updated design from Amazon so I kept them. My dogs seem to love them. I only give it to them for about 30-45 mins a day and then I put them away. This allows them to chew for a bit and not get bored with it or destroy it too fast. Please note: This is NOT an edible bone it does come with instructions (packaging and online) and should be taken away once the wear gets too bad. I couldn’t believe some of the reviewer’s posts that had pictures of huge chunks of the bone missing. That’s extremely dangerous, please use with caution.

Three weeks in and doing well
I bought this for my dog who is a super-chewer and so far, three weeks in, the toy is holding up well. It's a little frayed at the end but not to the extent I'm worried she will swallow anything. I can just cut off any frayed bits.To put this in context, my dog is an ex-puppy farm dog who can chew through concrete, so this is doing well. She has it during the day and probably chews on it for several hours a day.I should say that her teeth are worn down (because of her past) so perhaps a dog with bigger teeth would be able to do more damage. But she's still pretty good at destroying most toys (and wood, concrete, gnaw at stones etc) so this, so far, has been a good one.I don't know whether the supposed peanut taste actually makes any difference. I bought two, but my other dog totally ignores his and can't be bothered with it at all.

Do not buy this - danger to your dog.
UPDATE TO BELOW REVIEWI have contacted Benebone directly regarding this matter and they have advised Amazon have sent me the old style product. They are to replace it with the new style.Having had two of these style of chews in the past with no problems or concerns, I was surprised that when I did an internet search for them that dogs had been getting them stuck on their teeth. I was happy to see that Benebone had changed the design on the back of this and ordered a replacement last week.So you can imagine how angry and upset I am that this new design is still a hazard to your dog. My dog just got this stuck on his bottom jaw. He screamed in panic and started clawing at himself to get it off. I can only be glad that both myself and my partner were there to get it off. I couldn’t have managed on my own and don’t want to imagine the damage my dog could have done to himself if he was alone.Do not leave your dog unattended with this chew. We are scratched and scraped and have had to completely clean our bedroom after the dog defecated with fear.

Dangerous over rated waste of money
Hi. My staffie is an enthusiastic chewer. Large and powerful he quickly removed one of the handles on this thing and swallowed a chunk. Not a small piece or a sliver but a 2” long chunk. Luckily I heard him choke and was able to retrieve the piece in question with some difficulty.I thought of taking this chew from him even when it was still in tact. I thought he might have difficulty chewing/playing with it because it’s such an odd shape. I left it too long but thankfully no real harm was done. Are the manufacturers aware of the dangerous nature of this thing🤔🤔🤔🤔🤬🤬🤬🤬

Fab product from a fab company
The image shows this, the wishbone benebone and a tragically neglected nylabone. Benebone products are fantastic, great for strong chewers and very safe. This is the first time I’ve had to replace in 3 years, so value actually works out to be superb - especially if you add up the cost of the ignored alternatives scattered around the place!

Splinters!
My 18 month old Cockapoo, who weighs only 7kg, is a prolific chewer & will demolish soft or rope toys in minutes. The only thing that has given value for money is the various forms of Nylabone which she loves. So, after reading all the reviews for the Benebone products, I had high hopes that I’d found an alternative to the over priced Nylabone. But sadly, within minutes of being given the chew, tiny shards of it started to splinter off & I had to take it off her. Extremely disappointed for the money paid. If I’d gone for a cheap option I wouldn’t feel so cheated but this product is not for heavy chewers.
