Easy and Great
Since working from has taken over my computer I wanted a separate device to capture video that did not require my computer. This device has proven to be very convenient and easy. The quality of the video is great, my only drawback is the file size. They are huge, but that is not the device fault it is just the HD video. A 1hr 45 min move becomes 5-6 GB. And when editing these files and compressing them, you are looking at a lot of time, which is nothing new if you have ever done video editing before, which I have. I am mostly using it in conjunction with the GANA composite to HDMI converter so I can hook up VHS tapes to this sucker. Also OOP Laserdiscs that have not made it to any other platform I would like to preserve in case my last laserdisc player breaks down, an inevitable event. I can say that the capture device works amazingly well in its own right, as I have tried it with HDMI native electronics as well, and to top it off with the composite to HDMI, I found my way to preserve all those old videos. The problem I have had with the pinnacle, the device I used to use a long time ago, is it will stop recording when it thinks the VHS has stopped playing, the issue with that is the deteriorating tape will make the pinnacle stop recording in the middle, which is extremely infuriating. I have not had this device stop recording ever unless I hit the stop button, so I am assuming a bad home VHS tape will be recorded straight through the static, I will update when I can confirm. I have preserved 2 laserdiscs so far today and am looking forward to continuing my cataloging. The instructions couldn't be more simpler, Plug in device, HDMI in from source, HDMI out to TV, add a USB drive to record to (NTSC is recommended form other users so I used that), what for light to stop changing (BLUE 1080, GREEN 720), and hit record. Also full disclosure, I really didn't read the instructions, since I have had devices like this before. The software is a miss for me, I read other reviews saying it was waste, which to be fair I think people who make hardware throw in a crap generic software program to advertise, hey look, it comes with a dvd too. The only exception to that stipulation is if the software was manufactured specifically for the device, which this does not seem likely for this product. I am also using a Mac to edit, and this software advertises Macintosh compatable, which most of you will know, Macintosh has not been used in Apple programming language for quite sometime, it was before OS X, so that is another key element in my nope theory. Maybe I'll try it one day and be pleasantly surprised, and I will be sure to update my review. Love this device and its simple plug, play, record.

Not Useful for Recording PS4 Gameplay
I purchased this with intentions of using it to record game play from my PS4. In short, it doesn't work how I was lead to believe.Pros:-Small/compact-Includes nice HDMI-AC Power adapter has good lengthCons:-Gets really warm to the touch when in use-USB drive is noticeably hot to the touch after use-The video files are extremely compressed-There are noticeable artifacts in the video files-The video files are nearly impossible to edit in a professional video editor like Adobe Premiere Pro-Sometimes I couldn't even view the files on the USB drive after recording because it would say the drive is corruptWARNING FOR PS4 USERS:This device will record what comes through the HDMI. It will NOT record audio if you play games with a headset because the PS4 will not output audio through headphones and over HDMI simultaneously. This is no fault of the capture box, but I was not aware of this when I purchased. Why I am returning it:1. I want to be able to edit my recorded game play and these video files made my editor lag and crash multiple times (which has never happened to me prior to editing these video files)2. I want to be able to play my PS4 and wear a headset while also capturing game play. It looks like the only way to do this without an extreme pc setup is using the built in record feature on the PS4 which is only 720p :(3. This device seems very inconsistent in ability and quality. Between the picture artifacts and sometimes corrupt files its a gamble at best*Note: I did contact customer support with ClearClick throughout the day (about 10 emails back and forth) and the rep was extremely nice and pleasant.

Love this little box! Works with Cable box/ DVR
This is my new favorite toy. It's simple to use, easy to learn, and the picture quality is great.I'm preparing to leave cable and use Sling TV along with a digital antenna. I just don't watch enough TV to pay for cable.I do love movies, however. and I had recorded 50 of my favorite movies on my cable company's DVR. I didn't want to lose my collection of classic and Oscar nominated films when I returned the DVR as I am an avid movie aficionado and a student of great storytelling.I plugged in this video capture box (along with a splitter made to bypass HDCP codes), put a USB drive in, and started recording. Surprisingly, it worked with only a few glitches. With the first attempt, my movie was recording but then it wasn't . I don't know what happened but it has worked fine for every movie after that -- and I've been recording around the clock for three days now.Another glitch is that it's hard to get the box on 720 sometimes, but I like that there are only a few buttons and it's simple to use.The only drawback are the enormous files. My movies are coming in at 7, 8, and even 9 or10 gigabytes! I had to buy a 1TB hard drive because my computer was filling up with movies.I am using Movie Maker to compress the movies down to 4-5 gb but I still wish they could get even smaller. Handbrake did not work for me ... it threatened to take 40 hours to compress one movie. Movie Maker does it in a little over 2 hours.P.S. I was grateful for other commenters' advice to format the flash drive for NTFS so that the movie could record in one big file rather than several smaller ones.edit: 8/25/2019This has stopped worked roughly 1 year and 7 months after purchase.!!!

Capture segmented and need, "Video Maker" to put together and it takes long time to edit.

Do Not Buy
Worked very well recording TV programs and movies for three months then problems started to occur. Now after 7 months the unit is totally useless when connected between my top box and the tv it keeps switching my top box off. I will not buy another from the same manufacturer . When working correctly the box did exactly what was required recording anything you wanted either in 720 or 1080 using a 32 gb flash drive formatted in NTFS. For the price this unit cost me and the short time it lasted it is Definitely not worth the cost.

Audio drops frequently
Overall it's good but not great. Switching between 720 and 1080 recording is a bit of a mystery still and it has a habit of dropping the audio for a second at a time from the hdmi feed. Luckily I only need the video from it.
