After reading through the reviews, we still decided to take a chance on this mostly metal, multi-brush, adjustable height carpet sweeper. We're glad that we did.We don't quite understand what the bad reviews were expecting. We have 3 long-haired Maine Coons and the fur is everywhere. With this back to the century mechanical carpet sweeper we can now de-fur on a daily basis without dragging out the vacuum cleaner.Yes, we looked into the hand-held cordless electric mini vacuum cleaners. Hint: Consumer Reports doesn't recommend a single one at any price point because they don't have enough suction or battery life. They even posted on their website that they don't recommend any of the cordless electric handheld vacs. None. Whoa.So, we went old school and found this really great Leifheit carpet sweeper. It works as it should, is easy to maneuver, empty and clean the brushes of fur. With its adjustable height dial we're also able to get under the furniture and sweep our hard surface floors. All in all, this is a bargain compared to the cordless electrics and it works. Yay.P.S. - There's a great YouTube video by Anna Libahunt who found this exact carpet sweeper in a dumpster. She shows us how to take it completely apart in under 10 minutes for a thorough cleaning, including removing all the brushes, to extend the life of this Leifheit Regulus carpet sweeper. Thank you, Anna! We're on the hunt for a set of replacement brushes now that we know how to take apart this sweeper for a thorough cleaning.

Dont buy, doesn't function at all

BASICALLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN ULITMATE SWEEPER. PERFECT IN EVERY WAY... SEARCH NO MORE. HERE IS WHY:HERE IS WHAT i TESTED AND i REALLY TRIED TO FIND ALL KIND OF DIRT AND STUFF.. and it worked perfectly on CARPET and HARDWOOD:- pet hair- human hair- dirt as in dust- garden soil sprinkled over the wood, tiles and carpet- sugar and salt spilled by kids on a carpet- little bids- cat dog food- it even picked up small screws without any problem- small pieces of thread- dryer lintLet me tell you.. I have been looking for a perfect sweeper for ages this particular sweeper restored my hope in humanity. I tried many and all were doing really poor job so I almost gave up... but then.. I found it, I bought it, I tired it and I love it. I am only sorry that I spent so much time and money on other brands that were truly disappointing because they were not picking up the stuff from the floor or leaving half of it behind.WHY DO I LOVE IT:- The moment i took it out of the box it just blows my mind.. It is absolutely amazing!- YOU CAN TURN THE KNOB AND ADJUST THE ROLL TO THE HEIGHT OF THE CARPET! WOW! WOW! WOW!- And.. because I can adjust the brush to the carpet height it works perfect every single time!- There are THREE!!! not one not two but THREE brushes!- The brushes are positioned to perfection just where the action is needed so nothing is missed- the brushes are not soft and flimsy like in the most of the cheap sweepers but stiff and solid and perfect.- The brushes are made of some fiber that is easy to clean the pet hair off unlike other sweepers.- It is German product, by German brand build like a German car, works like one and the quality of it is remarkable! Reliable, does what it supposed to. PERFECTION!-it picks up everything in a solid hungry sweep.-it works both directions so if you roll it back it does not loose the load like I experienced with other sweepers.- it is beautifully painted, truly resembles the paint of the best German cars.- It is nicely detailed and looks so super cute in person.- Quality of craftsmanship, materials and design is unsurpassable.- it is not huge and does better work then the larger ones of this kind.MORE ON THE FEATURES:DESIGN - it is truly cute as a button and designed to perfection so it does look as great as it work. Ideal marriage of form and function. The moment I took it out of t he box I fell in love with it and I only hoped it will work as good as it looks and yes it does. It comes in a small box, there is no assembly as such and the only thing you need to do is to put together the stick that is made of four pieces and that is really easy peasy as you simply twist each piece into the end of the other. No tools of any kind is necessary and the whole thing took me about one minute or less. It comes with clearly visible knob to adjust the carpet height, it has a slick finish paint that makes it easy to clean. The brushes are in perfect alinement and they work both directions. You can keep it standing on the face as it is for sweeping or you can hang it on the wall flat so the face will kind of drop flat to the wall .. brushes will face the wall.OPERATIONSo it works both direction. If you ever try any of those sweepers you know that it poses a huge challenge for the most of them. What happens with most of those cheap ones is that it would pick some of the stuff from the floor as you roll it away from yourself but as you come back it would drop the junk behind leaving a trail of mess the same mess but now in new formation. Headache!So this guy sweeps as it supposed to.. It works back and forth and each time it grabs dirt or pet hair or w hat have you, it pushes it into the little traps and keeps it there till you empty it.Impeccable pick up.THE CARPET LENGHT REGULATORIs mesmerizing. It deserves special attention because I think this is is one of the greatest assets aside from great craftsmanship and brash material choice. The little dial on the top is easy to find as it is right there..it is so easy to operate - you just turn it like a dial to select your desired carpet height. It is clearly market by little icons from highest carpet thread to lowest one.Having this option is a dream. While I did not find any other sweeper out there with this option, it is truly the ultimate feature. You can adjust the brush to perfection and it results in the perfect job. If a brush would have one position like it is the case in other devices of this kind, then something gotta give, it is perfect on one height of carpet or floor but it will suck on the others. This way you can simply adjust as needed.If you have very short carpet, brush will be low and work hard and perfect. If you have fluffly long hair carpet brush does not need to be low but should be high so it does not damage carpet and does not make you work too hard for no reason.If you have medium size carpet threads then you have two choices to pick and try.I just love this brush so much. All my family member tried it and they also tried other models and everyone said this one set all others apart some light years. They other brands have a lot of catching up to do.It is so adorable and works so great that the use of this device became a beloved by everyone simple exercise and not a chore. Now anyone can grab it and roll it just for fun and some added movement as it is so inviting and so effective.I will be buying more of those sweepers as I want one of them on every level. I also will be putting it on my Holiday Gift idea list for some family member who definitely could use it.It is also PERFECT gift for elderly parents and college kids as both of those groups can not do much cleaning each for different reason :) however it is so easy and so much fun and so effective that everyone loves it.If you missed my mention above, this is a German brand, and they have their own website so this product has solid back up and it is verifiable.Wishing you happy shopping, making great choices, finding great products and deals! This is a very well made sweeper. I find the dial for adjustment works well.

It failed to pick up lint etc from the low pile carpet in the bedroom. When I tried to turn the dial to improve the performance, it just got more difficult to move. I would not recommend this product!
