Easy to use. Quick wire-up to allow rewiring when the serial port pinout is not known for sure. Also useful when adapting weird serial connections to standard DB9, just cut the old cable, strip wires, and screw into terminal blocks.

I bought these solely on the fact that this is the only version I could find that 'seemed' to have a longer cable... maybe 6ft. But when I received them, they were only 3ft, and I couldn't use them. Disgusted, I just threw them in my junk bin. I know I should have returned them. But I get SO TIRED of dealing with the BS of 3rd party sellers on here I just wanted to avoid the hassle. (China 1, US 0) Now, the seller doesn't even sell them... Typical BS.

The product description at time of writing this review is "Repeat Brush only need three lines, generally used in the RX TX GND three signal lines, the VCC without access." What this means: the VCC line isn't used for UART. Fine. But the chip is designed for 3V3 and the red pin is 5V so if you accidentally touch it to your UART connection, you'll brick your device.

All three cords occasionally de-enumerates which invalidates the com port. Went back to other FTDI based cable that works just fine. Look elsewhere, this is junk.

These are worthless. Complete junk. I have three that do not work. Tested against another cable that works fine.
