Wing Chun Applications: From the School to the Street

Pure and moral, philosophy of violence to the end
As a reader, I must confess; I am one of Sifu Jason's students. But I often find his writings hard to put down. It is rare when you find a kindred spirit that seems to see the world almost the exact way you do, but is more articulate when it comes to 'talking his way through' the chaotic, fallen world. I found myself nodding my head as I read this book, realizing that martial arts just makes sense with my Christian upbringing, and my calls to both protect others, and teach. Jason has a knack for simplifying what might appear to be complicated at first glance. The Chi Sao he mentions in the book, and the various forms, when you see them demonstrated by a master - can appear intimidating to learn without knowing the applications. Jason brings those applications to life in simple black and white pages, and basic preset photographs, that make this book a great indepth look at the martial art of Wing Chun. But it goes much further, and you might even find yourself in the very mind of a philosophical warrior. In my opinion, the world would be a better place, if we all tried to be just that; warriors whose own philosophies of life exhibit honor everywhere we go, because that is just the right way to be.Well done, Sifu.

Good, practical, no-frills information
I like the author's writing. He comes across well in his online content too. He appears to have a pragmatic (despite criticising others for their "pragmatic" approach to life?) and undogmatic approach to martial arts. This book has some useful information, good photos and is a good accompaniment to his JKD books. My view is that the lines between his JKD, Wing Chun and boxing are extremely blurred (and rightly so), to the point of being arbitrary for the sake of labelling/association.I was pleased to see that the author has stopped using his books to discuss his religion (which has little relevance in my opinion), although he appears to have exchanged religion for referring to his politics, which are mostly irrelevant -The book loses a star for this.

Great read
If you like Jason Korol then you will love this. I think it’s his best book so far. Great blend of practical application for you to make your own together with some philosophical discussion to absorb.

Great book
This is a great book for anyone training in Wing Chin for self defence. It helps you to understand the importance of understanding violence and what it takes to defend yourself successfully. It also helps you understand the difference between combat sports and true self defence and the legal and moral implications of engaging in violence. There's more to self defence than fighting and this explains it all. The only negative is that the author tends to force his religious beliefs on you but that can be ignored if you choose to and shouldn't stop you from reading so much valuable information.
