I was skeptical since it was so cheap but when I tried it out it was really good at cutting several foam types. It heated up quickly, and cools off just as quick so you don't have to worry about burning or melting anything accidentally. Might even order a second for convenience, since I will be using these a lot for terrain modeling.

Cuts right through foam board, its pretty cool. It is hard to get a straight cut using freehand but it seems to work fine for cutting better than a knife anyway.It stopped heating up after about 10 minutes of cutting, I eventually changed out the wire using one of the spares included and it started cutting again. Not sure what caused the first wire to stop heating.Over all I'm happy with this purchase for the price but I can see why a table cutter would be worth the money.

For the price, its exactly what I was looking for. Extremely simple construction. You can see all wires, making any issues easily correctable.

You, like me, are probably trying to avoid spending 3 times as much on a table band saw looking hot knife. This works for... very very few needs, and you should just wait and save and buy the table looking thing.You know how, in our hobby, you should just buy the cheap thing, and then once you understand what you like, you buy the expensive one that suits you? This isn't the cheap one. This isn't a matter of choosing one in a lower tier, this is an entirely different product, and you will be disappointed.I'm giving it three stars, just in case you are looking for a hot knife that can cut uneven and miniscule cuts. If you want that, this is that. very very small (10mm or less) cuts, that will be wavy.I know, you don't think I did it right. Let me explain, I built a jig that holds this in place, and then forces the foam through at an even interval, and it still crapped out on me. I now use this for cutting 3mm corners off of things, and that's it.

Overall I love this for working on foam dios. Only improvement would maybe be a better batter cover and setup

Remember to add 2 c batteries. This is great for freehand foam cutting.

Not a fancy exterior/design, but it works great and you can literally cut any shape.

Doesn't work. I have tried multiple sets of batteries and the cutting wire never gets hot. Waste of money.

Great cutter for small jobs, but feels very flimsy and will not cut through any layers you’ve already glued.
