Worth it!! Install Hacks included
Admittedly, I tried to be cheap and didn’t purchase the interior aesthetics kits (separate kit, ordered from Bradley Building Solutions) on the front end. It looked terrible without the interior framed out. The install of the entire assembly was a tough job but only because I had to cut through cement. Otherwise it would have been a simple installation. Regardless of gender, if you are handy then you can DIY. Install hacks: Use a level & trace an outline of the vent frame. Using a drill bit that exceeds the wall depth, drill holes in all 4 corners of your traced outline (make sure your bit makes it through both sides of the wall). From there, cut away & it will be level on the interior and exterior. If your cut on both sides is not level, the vent will not fit and/or it will not open properly. I used Hurribond adhesive to secure the vents, 1 tube was enough for both vents. To be in code, I believe one vent is required per 200sq ft. A standard garage is 400sq ft = 2 smart vents. Don’t trash the Elevation Certificate (3 pages front & back) Submit to your insurance company for a reduction on flood insurance.

The final product looks great and matches my modern style
The final product looks great and matches my modern style. I watched a few installation videos before I decided to purchase these type of vents, but my installation process ended up been completely different to what is shown by the SmartVent videos. The company shows an installation in a flat wall surface (perfect world). It didn't workout that way for me. I had to use cement to install mine because I have a stone wall and I didn't think about the difficulty of the process. It turned out great, but it took a few hours and cement to get it done.

Necessary Vents
Live in flood zone with elevated home. Used this product to add workshop/man cave downstairs. Spent the extra money for stainless steel opposed to plastic and am happy with the appearance. Just wanted to make the room look more professional. Hope to never need them but we will see. They look very well designed.

Terrible weld quality
Poor quality spot welds, the corner pieces fell off, not nearly enough spot weld penetration
