Couldn't pass my e-check because of a code 0456. It didn't turn off the engine light. Many Youtube videos stated it will turn off after 10 engine starts or 40 miles of running. It irritated me to see that light on knowing I fixed it and still couldn't get my e-check with it on. So I purchased Nulksen OBD2 Scanner. Easy to read and turned engine light off in seconds. Drove right up to e-check and passed. Auto shop $279 or Amazon $37.09. You do the math๐.

You're buying a diagnostic tool. NOT a mechanic's troubleshooter.
Gets DTC codes quickly, and even has some monitoring abilities, far more capable than I would have hoped for; considering my troubleshooter cost nearly $1K, and requires a subscription service to stay up-to-date. This little tool, plus a Google search, is a simple way to save some $.

horrible - would not recommend
first off, it wouldn't read any code even though my engine had a check engine light.it randomly told me that cylinder 3 was misfiring once, but this wasn't a code, it just randomly said it once. i do believe that this is why my check engine was light, but it never gave me a code and i could never get it to show cylinder 3 was misfiring again.but this isn't necassary why i gave it a 1 star.i gave it a 1 star because the second time i plugged it into my car, i noticed the screen had weird lines going horizontally and vertically all through out the screen.it is now hard to read the screen and the response time on the screen is extremely slow.what i mean by this is i will press the up or down button, then i have to wait 1-2 seconds for the screen to show that i pressed a button.
