Very true that you are paying a bunch for the build in Mixer/DSP. Mobile app: for Android, FAIL!
So I went with a set of these to save money over what I really wanted (a set of Bose F1's), and since on top of DJ'ing, I plan on using these possible for small church events, so nice can mix right on them. However, when using for my main use, DJ'ing with a mixer, where I just have once channel coming into each from the mixer, yeah, that is a lot of wasted features.I just got moved into my new house, and was finally able to test them both at full volume. Not lacking there for my use, can't wait to get to see how well it is outdoors. Up till now, I kept one at the house while working on it and one at apartment till I moved.I wish there was a way to allow you to set one speaker to be used for Bluetooth audio, and then set it so that it only plays left channel, and sends all of the right channel out to the other speaker. I just prefer actually using them in stero. From playing around, it just mixes L/R from bluetooth input, then the output sends that same mixed signal out to the other speaker. The idea of the app was very appealing. Very little features actually worked for me on Android. (ie, can't change main levels nor channel levels, I could get in and change EQ settings on channels). I contacted JBL support and got a fast reply. He said to check the firmware, and I did and found there was updates. I was optimistic. However, even though videos show using an app to tweak channel setting easily instead of using knobs on speaker, I was told the knobs on the speakers are really what should be used for setting everything. So much for putting on a playlist at an event, and then be able to via the app bump a song up or down away from the speakers. So I install the updated firmware... FAIL, after the update, NO feautres (even after uninstalling app and reinstalling, on a Pixel 6) work now. Completely useless. I have yet nearly a month later to hear back from my reply to support about this. Guess it was a canned reply for "default answer".I was able to "rename" the speakers, so I could name them "Left" and "Right", it would be nice if you could get that reflected in the name showing up for BlueTooth connection.Good thing I don't need to app to save a gig's setting for multiple inputs being used for the next time. I am going to try using a friends iPad for it, all the videos that is what people are using. The tech geek in me wishes the display when "idle" would show levels. You know, keep the "main volume" setting across the bottom, but then have 8 level meters to show main out, and 7 channel levels. Granted the lights on the chanels indicate levels, but other than clipping, there is no master level output indicator. I mean you have a full color display... use it :)Great volume, great range. Way over priced on the adapter to use the sticks separate from the base. DO NOT try moving them with the sticks installed. I went to do this and WHAM. hit the ceiling with it as I was moving it. Luckily no damage.Oh yeah, great long power cables on these. And if they loose power while in use, they do revert back to the state they were in when power comes back. It would be nice if they had a pocket in the carrying case for the sticks to hold the power cable as well for when taking somewhere to just use for bluetooth.

Great sound
This speaker is amazing! Only gripe is that, I don’t need all the inputs as a DJ… I wish they made a cheaper option that did not include the mixing board attached to the back that I could pair up with this one for the stereo sound, when I don’t need all the extra inputs. Bluetooth connection is great, but you need to turn that off if you use the aux in, my music was playing great, then my phone automatically connected and music stopped from the aux cable. Rookie mistake, I’ll know better next time. Bass bumps, mids and highs are crystal clear!

Brilliant little system - with one caveat Update 5-24
Bought this for a portable system for singing/playing jazz standards. Very nice vocal sound once tweaked in app. Using both shure SH55 and sennheiser e865 and I can clearly hear the unique signatures of each mic that I prefer for certain songs. Side by side with my QSC k10’s very much prefer the JBL for swing and jazz vocals!Update- one issue is it sounds great if you’re standing in front of it but sitting any closer than 25’ you overwhelmingly hear lows and mids because of the array design. The highs aren’t aimed down to fill in the mix until about 25’ out. In small venues, like the assisted living places I volunteer in, most folks are seated and closer than 25’ and get a very mid muffled mix.I tried to add a smaller JBL from the pass through at waist height to help fill in the highs but it can’t compensate for the overwhelming mids. If I pull the mids back overall it just creates a thin sound. I may buy the wall mount for the column and build a floor stand for it. But that’s more gear to haul; it will look weird and would be longer set up and break down.

Best battery powered speakers - period!
I am a drummer/DJ and have a collection of speakers. My main brand has always been QSC but when I tried the JBL MK2 I was definitely blown away by the features and ease of use.Coming to a gig with these you’ll be ready to blast music in literally less than a minute. You unpack the speaker and turn it on.I bought 2 of these and will definitely buy more if there’s a sale

A Worthy Upgrade
Before I bought this, I was using a 60 watt Fishman amp that I absolutely still love to use. And while it worked for 90% of my gigs, I struggled to be heard in some outdoor settings. So I wanted something that was more powerful but also portable as well. I looked at a few column array style PAs but settled on this one because of all the features like a robust DSP, phantom power for condenser mics, the 7 channel mixer and two USB charging ports which I absolutely love! I do wish the sub-woofer weighed a little less and that it came with some sort of cover for it. Before I bought this, I read multiple reviews about issues with the app, but JBL has just recently updated the app and it works great for me. It’s does have to reconnect if your phone or tablet goes into sleep mode, but the PA continues to work despite that. You don’t necessarily need to use the app which is great. You can access the same features right from mixer so if you forget your tablet like I did recently, you’re still good to go. All in all, an awesome PA and worthy upgrade for me.

Quality of voices coming out was noticed immediately.
Using it for our band practice down my basement. Haven’t used it anywhere else yet. Expect it to make setting up the equipment easier with fewer cords then we had with older systems. With four including 4 mics, guitar, Bass, keyboard, and drums. I didn’t hook up the guitar and bass. I could do it if I used my mixer or used fewer mic connections to support the mics. Love the subwoofer for the keyboard and drums. Still undecided if I want to hook up monitors knowing it works without but is dependent on how it is setup and the room layout or size. Bottom line I am very happy with buying the JBL Prx One.
