100% worth the 200€
THERES AN ANIME GIRL ON THE BOX🤯🤯🤯🤯I had been planning to upgrade from my Audio Technica M-50X's for a long time and I finally decided to get these. These headphones BLOWW the M-50X's out of the water. Everything from comfort to tonality to soundstage and all that. But if you're planning to buy these IEMs here's something I want you to know. After using them for about a month, earwax is going to start building up and you'll need to clean the nozzle. For the longest time, I thought my headphones were broken because the left IEM played louder than the right but it turned out all I had to do was clean the nozzle.Another thing to mention is that the cable isn’t indestructible, so don’t just toss them onto your bed like I did. I ended up having to buy a new cable because of that. 😭😭That’s really it though. If I were to nitpick, the bass might be a bit boosted for some people, and by that I mean maybe 3% of the population.Anyway, definitely get these!

Broken straight out the box
Honestly I was so excited to try these. I have the original moondrop aria's and I loved them but wanted an upgrade as my right IEM was beginning to fail after only 18 months of use. I decided to give moondrop another chance and upgraded to the Kato as everyone raves about them. Upon opening the box the right IEM didn't work though. Changed wires etc but nothing. The left worked and it was a lot nicer and clearly an upgrade over my aria however I need 2 headphones to actually listen to music and twice bitten now by moondrops quality control has made me leave the brand completely. Honestly don't bother if you want a short lived decent pair of IEMs. I've returned mine the same day. Not what you expect for nearly £200!

Ehm
I recently purchased the Moondrop Kato IEMs on the basis of excellent reviews on the internet and Youtube, and on the principle they would be a upgrade upon the Moondrop Aria IEMs I already own which have an upgraded cable. After three weeks of listening to both I honestly cannot detect any discernible difference in the sound of either one, both of which are excellent. The only difference I feel is that the Aria have more bass and a wider sound stage, and Kato have more treble content.I find in my opinion now I actually prefer the sound of the Aria which is fuller.Fortunately I have now have now found a buyer for the Katos, which are going. In spending a £100 more all I seem to have got is a set of shiny Moondrop Arias with a few more accessories.I think this goes to show that in terms of headphones either over/on/in ear, if you do your research and find a good budget set, after that its just a case of diminishing returns in terms of sound.I would be grateful for others opinions.

Don’t believe the hype
Being the owner of a pair of FIIO FH3 iems (and being very happy indeed with them), I couldn’t escape the nagging feeling that if I spent £200 on a pair of iems instead of the £110 the FIIOs cost, the sound coming out of my digital audio player running 24 bit Qobuz through a headphone amp (all FIIOs) would be even better. I did what you’re supposed to do nowadays - watched loads of YouTube videos by “expert” reviewers, read articles on headphone sites, until these Moondrop Katos sounded like the ones to go for. After all, the experts who waxed lyrical about the bass response, the imaging, resolution etc had to be right, right?Well, in a nutshell these are terrible. Imagine you have a decent set of earphones or iems and you pull them out of your ear canal about halfway, so all the bass and treble is lost - this is how these sounded. I have to turn down the volume on my Digital Audio Player to about half for the FIIO FH3s to be bearable. For the Moondrops, I had the volume at nearly full and still it sounded empty. These have a flat response, and not the “u” shape that some so-called reviewers claim. Oh, and the cable absolutely stank - it’s coated in plastic and has a really unpleasant smell. My £45 pair of old Sony earphones bought about 6 years ago sound better than these. Honestly, just be aware that YouTube reviewers are given incentives to give positive review for products, and this is a classic case in point. Lesson learnt - if I’m going to upgrade, I’ll stick with FIIO.

Great while it lasted
Got these for when I did not fancy wearing open backed headphones and wanted something with more isolation, they have a nice sound signature, with a slightly elevated bass, and they were awesome, or should I say were unfortunately after about 30 hours of use the left iem sounds like it’s wrapped in a sock, with different cable, different dongle , put the other nozzles on in case it was ear gunk.Expected better from a near £200 product! Disappointed.

Stopped working after a few weeks
Product was great - worked for a few weeks. Was a gift for my son. After flight on plane, 1 bud stopped working properly, lost bass and some frequencies. Contacted reseller - they replied to ask if wehad changed 'filter' and we responded yes, and this did not fix the issue. Reseller never came back - so unable to return or get repaired - 189 quid down the drain.
